Ridley Scott reveals the final moments of Prometheus are similar to Alien
"The last eight minutes of the Prometheus story evolve into 'a pretty good DNA of the Alien one.'
The director also explained his lengthy absence from the sci-fi genre, saying he just never found the right screenplay to work with before Prometheus.
"I think the reason why I haven't attempted science fiction in a number of years is because I haven't really come across a script that I really liked. This developed and came out extremely well."
The story of Prometheus centers on a group of scientists stranded on a distant planet, where they discover the answers to humanity's most burning questions. The story draws from the mythological story of Prometheus, the god of fire.
"The central metaphor of Prometheus is about a 'higher being' who challenges the gods, and the gods don't want to give him fire. 'Fire is our first form of technology,' Scott says, and so by taking fire, the higher being is punished 'in perpetuity in a horrible fashion.' Much like the story of the mythological god, Prometheus, who stole fire from Zeus and for his actions was bound to a rock with an eagle eternally devouring his liver."
Prometheus was released June 8th, 2012 and stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, Logan Marshall-Green, Sean Harris, Rafe Spall. The film is directed by Ridley Scott.

I hope just as he got in deep with a bunch or historical/epics (like Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Robin Hood), now he'll hopefully give us 3 or 4 sci-fi's in a row (Prometheus, Blade Runner, and at least 2 more!)

I still cant believe this is actually happening. They have been wrapped on principle photography for a while now and I'm still as excited whenever I hear info about this project as I was the day they announced Ridley was going to be directing it.
For the record, I was as excited to hear he was directing this as I was that Peter Jackson was finally going to direct The Hobbit in place of Guillermo Del Toro which, for anyone who knows me, is saying a hell of a lot! Needless to say, this and The Hobbit are probably my two (actually three) most anticipated films of the past half decade.
And now that Ridley Scott is excited by the Sci-fi genre again, and is actually doing a Blade Runner sequel, I think its only a matter of time before he decides to get back on The Forever War project that he's been talking about doing for so long!! If he were to get Leonardo DiCaprio to star, that could potentially be among the greatest Sci-fi films ever made (right there beside a few other Scott films). Either way, its something to get excited and hopeful about.

Seems like the whole movie should be an homage to Alien..
