Catwoman is completely new says producer Emma Thomas
First, she offered some further insight into Tom Hardy and his turn as the villainous Bane.
"Tom made a massive physical transformation for the role...It really is an intense performance. He finally feels like a match for Batman - both physically and mentally. Christian Bale and Tom Hardy are both such fiercely committed actors that pitching them as adversaries works incredibly well - they have such a great chemistry on camera."
Emma Thomas then turned her attention towards Anne Hathaway as Catwoman.
"It's completely new, and it's a really interesting role. You never quite know where you are with her."
More from Emma Thomas will be revealed when the latest issue of Total Film hits newsstands on Thursday.
The Dark Knight Rises comes to theaters July 20th, 2012 and stars Liam Neeson, Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Aidan Gillen, Marion Cotillard. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

@junior Roberts actually he was called "the joker" quite a few times in the movie. batman said it at the end "the joker cannot win" and harvey dent and batman both referred to him as the joker in their conversation.

I don't get some people when it comes to Batman. Get it out of your head from previous Catwoman in the movies that weren't based on the comic version. Catwoman was in Batman issue 1 and been in Batman's history 75 plus years. So don't be stating Catwoman doesn't have a place in Batman movies. Plus Catwoman is the only true love interest of Batman.

@ollie-styrene: Yeah, tryue but realize that none of these villains in the Chris Nolan Batman series have even been called by their respective names. Joker, for instance, was never directly called "The Joker". He was referred to as a joker, most time clown. I doubt they'll refer to her as Catwoman in this new movie.

Catwoman should not be in any batman movie at all... its just too dumb,.. Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight was perfect movies,.. but introducing catwoman is going to ruin this movie.. I`m sure of it.. even the name "Catwoman" sounds silly.. not to sound sexist, but keep the women on the sideline in batman.. Unless the female caracter is like Ripley or Selene in attitude and performance it will be cheesy..

@junior-roberts Yeah TDK turned out great. But Halle Berry as catwoman was horrible at best. Her acting was so bad it turned me off her looking good lol.

@thejoker-16 - Like youv said a new trailer from Nolan will put a fight for the #1 spot., no ways ppl can say TDKR is going to win the competition. Nolan had always been a solo winner, times changed now.

#2 - TDKR

I was so much into TDKR news - but after seeing the trailers for The Amazing Spider man and The Avengers,. I kindda lost the feel a bit about TDKR. Its still going to be a massive movie, but we have seein enough - TAS and TA are my top priorities TDKR moved down to 3rd position in my chart.

@supermanvenom I wouldn't exactly say she's hella sexier compared to previous Catwomen (Halle Berry, Michelle Pheifer). She's ok. But I think people are more concerned with her "making it" as a good actress in a serious move. It's the same "WTF" moment they had when they heard Heath ledger was going to portray Joker and looked how GREAT that turned out.
