Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time debuted atop all three home video charts last week, according to The Hollywood Reporter, in a week where nine of the top 10 in DVD sales were new releases.

The Jake Gyllenhaal movie won by a large margin, selling twice as many units as the second-place finisher, Letters to Juliet, which also took second place on the DVD rental and Blu-ray sales charts. Rounding out the top 5 on the DVD sales charts were The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Third Season in third place, the straight-to-DVD animated release Barbie: A Fashion Fairytale taking fourth place and Glee: The Complete First Season rounding out the top 5.

Killers, which dropped all the way to 10th place in DVD sales after taking the top spot last week, took third place in DVD rentals behind Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Letters to Juliet. Despite dropping to third place in DVD rentals, Killers only dropped 17% in rental revenue.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time completed the sweep with a win on the Blu-ray sales charts followed by Letters to Juliet, Glee: The Complete First Season, Fringe: The Complete Second Season and The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Third Season.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was released May 28th, 2010 and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina, Steve Toussaint, Toby Kebbell, Richard Coyle, Ronald Pickup. The film is directed by Mike Newell.

this movie was terrible and had little to nothing to do with the game its based off of. all this movie is, is a group of paople trekking from one city to another to stop an evil villain. remind anyone of any other movie?? lotr maybe? i've played EVERY prince of persia game their is and none of them support the lame ass story that was in the film. (with the exception of the fact that he had to stop the evil bad guy) and the princes signiture acrobatic moves were pretty much absent through most of the film. you see it a little at the beginning, and a lil more at the end. thats pretty much it. the rest of the time its just a bunch of people walking through the desert and jake gyllenhaal trying to hit on the female character and be 'charming' for the inevitable love story that was not present in the games either. none of the qualities that made the games great were present in the movie. the acrobatics, wall running, booby traps, dead soldiers, breakaway floors, puzzles......yeah none of that was in the movie. hell they only use the dagger of time once in the film.
this movie was A SERIOUS DISAPPOINTMENT. dont even waste your time with it if you're a fan of the games. i was really expecting better from the team that did POTC.

"Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" ...has to be 1 of the worst films of 2010 ...Very boring....really no plot to talk of ....& thank G-d I only wasted a $1.00 from Blockbuster Express .... I gave up on this film 30 minutes into it....!!

A forgettable entertainment that might be worth a matinee if you can't think of anything else to do--laundry, for example.
