Predators to Start Shooting September 28th

Twitter is becoming more and more of an instant news source nowadays, and if you are looking for any up-to-the-minute announcements concerning your favorite movies, you only need to look here. Production Weekly has used the site to announce that director Nimrod Antal will start shooting the 20th Century Fox "reboot" Predators on September 28th. Just in case you were worried it wasn't really happening.

Antal will be lensing this fifth film in the Predator franchise at Robert Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios, with Rodriguez overseeing the project as a producer. This latest thrill-fest will actually transport us to the home planet of the Predators, where a group of humans have become stranded. There, they discover unspeakable horrors, not all of which are provided by the planet itself.

Written by the creative team of Alex Litvak and Michael Finch, Predators is set to land in theaters on July 7th, 2010.

Predators was released July 9th, 2010 and stars Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Walton Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Laurence Fishburne, Danny Trejo, Louis Ozawa Changchien. The film is directed by Nimród Antal.

Yeah Chad, I did not like the ending either. A buddy of mine went on Youtube and found an edited version, that somebody created, that makes it look like everybody in the Scout lived, and that Thomas Jane was just standing outside while the troops passed by. I haven't seen it myself but it sounds like something that should have been on the DVD extras, to satisfy viewers like us. I own it.

I have to say, like you mentioned, that when Marcia Gay Harden gets shot by Olie, I loved it too. I literally (actually) stood up and yelled "Yes'!!! Luckily, I didn't see it in the theater. I saw it, when I bought it, and was shouting in my livingroom.
Incidentlally, have you ready the book? It's the perfect book to movie, there ever was. If you saw the movie, then you read the book. All except the ending. there was only a mention of that course of action in the book. The book ended on a much more positive note, which, although wasn't a conclusion, I prefered.

Haha I don't know why they think those type of scenerios are cool to put on film cause they are more frustrating than interesting to the audience. That's why I hate The Hills Have Eyes cause absolutely nothing goes right the entire film and it drives me nuts and you are like talking to the tv telling them what to do I don't like doing that. I shouldn't be smarter than the "characters" in the movie haha. So I fully understand where you are coming from Van. The Mist tried to do that do, but forunately they did everything with a satisfying ending like everything that's said is awesome in the movie and when that crazy bitch gets shot I could have not been happier in a movie haha. All the convos had good dialogue and the only unsatisfying part was the actual ending (which I kinda liked in a twisted way though).

Yeah Chad Vital, I hear what you're saying. I agree about her running around retarded. I guess I was kind pissed at that part, because she looked so frakin' hot and they just wasted it.

I agree that the older bro should have died also, to sacrifice for the other one. But one thing I have to say is this... you said "they might have wanted to keep it more realistic by killing her off", but come on man, it's a movie about warrior aliens that don't exist.

And as far as the chick running ahead like she did.. is any chick in reality who saw those Predators and Aliens running around, they would either be frozen with fear and not even move, or she would do what the hell she was told by the people who were there to protect her, for fear that she would become the Predator's next trophy. I mean most chicks, scream and freak out at the sight of a rat for crying out loud. Her running ahead for me seemed deliberate and too plot devicy, like Newt running ahead of Ripley in Aliens.

I dont think so, that they should make this with famous stars. Its fair enough, if they wont be lame at acting. The really ass-kicker stars of these films are the Predators (and maybe Arnold Schwarzenegger :D )

I thought that part was rad, it sucked, but I guess it was more realistic in that way Vanboy. I mean, just because they have a "sex interest" doesn't mean the chick still can't die from being retarded and running around while aliens and a predator are fighting (like seriously how stupid do you have to be lol). They should have killed off the older brother instead, it would have been more what's the word, sacrificial or meaningful to the film knowing he died for his brother etc.

Hopefully they get away from those AVP movies. I was very disapoited in those.

What I really don't understand is why a director builds up characters in a movie, with some pretty significant contributions to the story and then just kills them off in a heartbeat. Like that hot chick that liked the loser guy in AVP2. The director spends the first half of the movie getting them to show hook up potential (swimming pool scene was great) and then she goes running ahead of everybody carelessly like Newt did in Aliens. And then she gets pinned up angainst the wall by a Predator's giant throwing star. I say, okay, why the Hell did I just waste that time, watching them get together if the director is going to throw it down the crapper! David Fincher used to be known for that, but it looks like he's matured.

The PREDATOR homeworld?! Well, at least it's breaking the pattern so far! The predator's coming to earth to hunt us thing might've gotten old. So at least it's original as far as this franchise goes. And if this story does go through, then I guess you could view it as being either a sequel or a prequel, depending on your choice.

This might work, but I hope the director has a really free and creative hand. I mean personally, I DO NOT LIKE Rodriguez's way of directing films. Sorry. But the concept sounds cool or fail. With Fox acting like it is, probably the latter.

  23. J.A.Ottley.Writer / Director

I agree with Newkill, sounds wayyyyy too much like Alien, and the simple fact that the 2 franchises have faced off against each other and that this is 20th century fox, doesn't really help this film at all.

I have the SCRIPT if any one is interested in reading it, i haven't got round to reading it yet.

  24. Newkill3000

I don't care what anyone says I still and probably will never understand the popularity with this whole Twitter rave. To this movie thing now, why does it sound like there just ripping off of Alien. A group of humans become stranded on the predators home planet, sounds alot like Alien. I'll probably see it but I know it's going to suck ass because 20th Century fox makes sh*tttttttt.

The fifth? There have been only two films in the Predator franchise. The AVP movies weren't intended as part of either Alien or Predator franchise.
