Predators Release Date Already Set for Summer 2010

It didn't take long for a new remake to set its release date. According to eRc Box Office, a July 7, 2010 release date has already been set for Robert Rodruigez's remake of Predator.

Predators promises to be "a bold new chapter in the Predator universe," stated a press release from Fox. It was also said that the production would take place in Rodriguez's facility in Austin, TX. It also said that, while he is shepherding the project, he won't write or direct the film, as a writer and director are currently being sought out.

I was taking a closer look at this article, it looks to me he'll be more of a Producer than director. I personally think remakes are all bad unless it has an awesome director. I would love to see Ridley Scott's' to take on this, he's such a great director and he knows how to deal with actors. I met him once when I was 12 years old, he was really nice to me.
Or James Cameron, I know what all of you might say, so don't try to stomp on me for suggesting such a thing.

Anyway, this new one better not blow cause if it does we should all sign on a few sheets of paper to get rid of this untalented hack. I can't remember the word for it.

Now, as most people here know that I PRAISE the "Predator" franchise, especially "AVP-R" (sorry to those who hate that film). So I think I should say, if "Robert Rodriguez" screws this up for me, I'll hunt him down and add another "trophy" to my collection. Just kidding. (sigh) I'm a freak.

Well, Ps2, since Rodriguez is doing it, he'll probably stick to the story, but he'll be making fun of it at the same time.

Blood Sport was an awesome movie, so was Kick-Boxer. Probably Van Damme's best alongside In Hell and JCVD was pretty good

The old one J.A. Actually he was the predator for a day, then faked being sick to do Blood Sport, which worked, because that movie made an ass load.. That's the magic of the show DVD ON TV.

Just checked up on something, but did you know Jean Claude Van Damme was presented with the role of the Predator. But he turned it down.

Ad to note i will be shocked if they don't use Danny Trejo, because them 2 reasons below are finanicial advantages, as for they save and gain money.

Also thanks for the recorrection :)

  22. J.A.Ottley.Writer / Director

    LOL, you just called Dutch...

They will use Danny Trejo...2 reasons

One they can reel in through one payment to do both Machete & Predators, through signing one contract in one large payment, rather than 2 seperate payments per film.

Plus side they can film both films back to back for double release, as soon as Machete finishes in the cinema, bring in Predator to gain profit.

Which i see, Machete getting a limit release and Predator will get outshone by the blockbuster season of 2010.

  23. Newkill3000

why do i have this bad feeling in my stomach that there going to get Danny Trejo to play Dutch. Actually, it's King Ghidorah, close enough. But yeah, that would have been great to see that instead this sh*t.

    LOL Water bill is due.

I just don't see this remake going anywhere, when Rodriguez mentioned or was it Eli Roth, any way one of them mentioned about getting rights to a monster franchise and that no one would suspect it and that they were amped for it.
In honesty, i'd never though it would be bloody Predator, of all monster movies...Predator.
I was thinking it would be cool to turn one of those rejected monsters that Godzilla fought in the old Japanese Godzilla's into a film you know like King Ghodiran, or whatever his name is.
That would have caught me off guard, i would have thought ok pretty cool.
But of all of them it had to be this one, i can see this going anywhere, all the twists have been leaked...Pathetic remake....more than one predator henceforth why its retitled 'Predators.' It will be poorly made. A good script needs at least 6 months to it, 3 or 4 months writing and the other 2 redrafting it and revising. and the obviously you got filming approx 6 months to a year maybe more depending on how complex the film is and then last but not least 3-4 months in post-production.

Solid film, would require at least 1 year and a half in complete production.

I agree with you J.A. Looks like Rodriguez needs quick cash to pay his bills.

Henceforth why i stated its going to be sh*t, Vis

"Ok so they have approximately a year to make this, no script is done and no director...So this will be awfully rushed and released at a height in the Summer Blockbuster time of 2010.

Yeah smart movie, speaking demographically "

Yeah K-man, it will be glorified with SFX, after all this is Rodriguez's studio...

And yeah, Zack Synder i doubt will be jumping on board any time soon for Predator, since the original is one of his favourite movies

    3 years agoby @chronicFlag

  30. K-Man

Ok that is gratifying that Rodriguez is not the director but that doesn't mean we are out of the woods yet, if they decide to get a hack director like those d-bag brothers who directed AVP 2 then we are all screwed! I hope that the studio realizes how important this movie is to so many people and make the right decision of getting a very talented/visionary director on board. Also, I realize it is early in preproduction but why would this be shot at Rodriguez's studio in Texas and not on location somewhere? They better not Bluescreen the f*ck out of this movie like Rodriguez does with everything else! Maybe it will just be for certain sets...
