Four high-profile theatrical releases debuted on DVD this past week, but only one came out on top of the DVD sales charts. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Precious took the top spot on the DVD sales charts in its first week on the shelves, although the rest of the charts were spread out amongst other competitors.Fellow new release The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day had a fine showing on the charts in its first week, taking second place in DVD sales and locking up first place on the Blu-ray sales charts. It was a close race on the DVD charts as well, with The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day selling just 18% fewer copies than Precious did. 2012 held the top spot on the rental charts once again.
Other new releases included Disney's Old Dogs, which took third place on the DVD sales charts and 10th on the rental charts and Jason Reitman's Best Picture nominee Up in the Air, which took second place on the rental charts.

Lol...let it rest? Avatar and The Blind Side got way more talked about than Precious did, and neither of those movies is as strong. The main driving force behind exposure of this movie is the fact that Tyler Perry and Oprah produced it, and they have a lot of pull with a lot of people.
By the way, your credibility as a film critic is hurt badly when you say what rating you'll give something before you see it, especially when you say you'll give a low rating to a film that is extremely popular with critics. You just revealed a pre-existing (and unreasonable) bias.

the movie was alright but i agree with you, im tired of sh*t like this being force fed, on top of that we have this overweight chick on every magazine cover and so forth, all i hear is precious this and precious that, yeah the movie is f*cked up and a good drama but let it rest people.

people will do anything to please are president and w/e i don't care what u people say i will not see some movie about a fat girl who has a horrible life everyone does so whine this movie will be reviewed by me soon and i am sure i will only will give a 2.5 or 3.0
