Lucy Punch has been cast as the female lead in the new FX pilot Powers. We first reported on this project back in February when FX gave a green light to the pilot.

The story is set in a world where people with superpowers are commonplace. Powers centers on two detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim (Lucy Punch), who work cases in a special homicide division known as Powers, where they solve crimes committed by those with powers. The project is based on the graphic novel created by Brian Bendis and Michael Avon.

Charles H. Eglee wrote the pilot script for Powers, which will be directed by Michael Dinner. Charles H. Eglee and Michael Dinner will executive produce along with Brian Bendis and David Engel.

Shooting will start sometime this summer on location in Chicago.

people with super powers is getting a little tired (becoming the new form of Twilight). i love comicbook movies, superhero genres, and super power characters, but unfortunately too many projects are half thought through and end up as garbage. this sounds like a good idea, though, so i hope it works out. wish it was on Showtime or HBO, but FX is far better than NBC or worse, yet, CW.
