Sam Raimi will produce the Poltergeist remake for MGM Studios
Sam Raimi has boarded the MGM Studios remake of Poltergeist as a producer. There were reports earlier today that he was directing, but he is not. Instead, he will help the studio look for a new director.

David Lindsay-Abaire is writing the script, which centers on a family trying to get their daughter back from an evil spirit. Juliet Snowden and Stiles White were previously attached to write the screenplay. It isn't known if David Lindsay-Abaire will work from their draft, or perform a page-one rewrite. David Lindsay-Abaire also wrote the screenplay for Sam Raimi's upcoming Oz: The Great and Powerful.

Nathan Kahane is producing the remake alongside Roy Lee. It isn't known when production may begin.

Poltergeist is in development . The film is directed by Gil Kenan.

    ANOTHER REBOOT HOLLYWOOD!!!!!! ANOTHER ONE!!!!

With the millions of dollars you receive for every picture, why is it that Hollywood decides to revisit the past in hopes of recreating a film that was already deemed a classic? Why???

This "reboot" situation if getting outta hand...

@jayaottley Some comments on that page that echoed my sentiments.

"Another reboot just to keep rights from reverting to Marvel. So now thats: Spiderman, Fantastic Four, Wolverine, X-Men and Daredevil. Lame."

"Disney is obviously going to have to buy the film rights for these properties. Sony and Fox won't let them go."

especially because poltergeist does not need a f*cking remake, next they'll be remaking the exorcist so they can make it "scarier" and more realistic or set it our time.
