The Poltergeist remake lands director Gil Kenan
MGM has brought on director Gil Kenan (Monster House, City of Ember) to take the helm on their Poltergeist remake.

We reported back in November that Sam Raimi signed on as a producer, with David Lindsay-Abaire rewriting the original screenplay by Juliet Snowden and Stiles White.

The original Poltergeist, which starred Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams and Dominique Dunne, centered on a family haunted by an evil presence. The horror-thriller, directed by Tobe Hooper, spawned the sequels Poltergeist II: The Other Side in 1986 and Poltergeist III in 1988. No details were given regarding the remake's story, although it will likely be set in present day.

Nathan Kahane and Roy Lee are producing alongside Sam Raimi. No production schedule was given.

Poltergeist is in development . The film is directed by Gil Kenan.

I hope they take the the time to write a real script and not lighten it too much and keep the moderate darkness in it
