Platinum Dunes Takes Over the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Film

Michael Bay to produce new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film
We reported back in October that Nickelodeon had secured the worldwide rights to a popular franchise and it seems they're partnering with some heavy hitters for a new live-action film. Deadline New York is reporting that Platinum Dunes will be producing the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action film with Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures.

It was said that Dunes principals Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form will be producing the film along with Galen Walker and Scott Mednick. The site reported that the producers will start taking meetings with writers over the next few weeks.

We also reported last July, before the Nickelodeon deal was announced, that screenwriter John Fusco was writing the script for this new film, but since it appears that Platinum Dunes will be taking meetings with writers, that Fusco will likely not be involved in the project.

We'll be sure to keep you posted with any new details on this upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action film project as soon as we have more information.

Ninja Turtles comes to theaters December 25th, 2013. The film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman.

I'll check it out. I watched the occasional TMNT as a kid, though never liked the movies much. This may finally be the movie we wanted, if the early looks are anything to go off of.

As long he's not directing it'll be slightly better. I really want to see this film, I don't mind him producing but directing is out of the equation.

Michael Bay has the ability to zoom in tight and zoom out quicker to hide the full scope of his limited vision during intense action scenes. Also possessing the ability to typecast Black men as obnoxious stereotypes. Women arent much more than dimwitted fembots in his world. Let us not forget, throughout the movie making business, the connotation of his name attached to any project strikes a feeling of underwhelming "here we go again" emotions.

I would wager my limited life savings on him being a fan of early disney animation.

With Nickelodeon out, and Platinum in, maybe we can count on more humor, violence, and good, old fashion ass-kickin!' Also, Michael Bay's not a total hack. He works well with action, and last time I checked, TMNT are like high school and college boys: they thrive off getting some action.

platinum dunes in my view have taken on a lot of re-make projects that are good apart from friday the 13th which made me feel like i was watching texas chainsaw massecresque film, so hopefully this will be good if not reasonable. nickelodean would of screwed it up. fingers crossed lol. i would also like them to make it more like the 80's series but i reckon they will try to ake it more relovent to today.

i agree with the last 3 comments, enough bitching about things we couldn't even attempt to do. hopefully this tmnt will be more closer to the original comics than the cartoons.

Boo hoo! I hate Michael Bay.. he is a horrible director..im just gona blindly piss all over everthing I ever see his name attached to.. For f*ck sake, give it a rest. ,,,here's an idea, lets try maybe making intelligent comments for once instead of bitching about a director who has much more talent and ability than you guys would even consider giving him credit for.

TNMT 1 was classic, 2 was more humor and the 3rd was too much. How kid friendly will this one be? Like 1 or 2 or 3?
