Plans for The X-Files and The X-Files: I Want to Believe on Blu-Ray Revealed

Although the film still hasn't hit theaters yet, there is high-def talk for the X-Files film, as well as it's predecessor. According to producer Frank Spotnitz's blog on the official The X-Files: I Want to Believe website, Blu-Ray releases are being planned for both the new film and the original The X-Files film.

"We are working on packing the DVD and Blu-Ray DVD releases with as many extras as they will fit, including video and audio commentaries, behind-the-scenes footage, bloopers, trailers, a new documentary, and several other cool surprises -- including a look at all those photos Chris took."

Of course, no release dates were announced but it seems like both of these discs will be loaded with features. We'll be sure to keep an eye out for more information on these coming releases.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe opens in theaters nationwide on July 25.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe was released July 25th, 2008 and stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Amanda Peet, Billy Connolly, Xzibit, Mitch Pileggi, Callum Keith Rennie, Adam Godley. The film is directed by Chris Carter.

The X-Files was released June 19th, 1998 and stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, John Neville, William B. Davis, Martin Landau, Mitch Pileggi, Jeffrey DeMunn, Blythe Danner. The film is directed by Rob Bowman.

Hopefully the "X-Files: Fight the Future" regular DVD will be loaded with extras. As they say both editions of "X-Files: I Want to Believe" will be. They weren't too specific on which flick they were talking about, or if they were talking about just XF2 or both. I want to rebuy "The XF: Fight the Future" on regular DVD loaded with extras, along with purchasing XF2 with extras. Hopefully both will come to regular DVD 2-disc sets.

The DTS transfer of the XF1 DVD was a joke. I wrote a review on it, and said it was a good movie but a poor DVD. It had ONE feature!!! So, yeah, it needs a better DVD version out there.
