"She plays the daughter of Blackbeard," executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer told MTV News at ShoWest in Las Vegas. "She's the daughter of the bad guy.
"She brings a lot of humor to it. And the fact that she's so feisty," he continued, adding that there will be "a little romance between [Depp's] Captain Jack and the character that Penelope plays."

Yeah, and they most likely would only show something like that real fast, to the point where the screen cuts off of that, as soon as they show it. Kind of like where they show real fast scenes where like in the maelstrom scene in Pirates 3, where a lot of the royal navy men get killed, they get shot or stabbed, or something simular to any of those things, and either way it happens, it happens so fast to the point where you wouldn't see any blood gushing out of them or anything like that.

@POTC4: We've seen people have their eyes ripped out by ravens, stabbed through the heart, and had limbs severed off in the Pirates series already, so one decapitation wouldn't be pushing it too far provided they know how to keep the gore mostly off screen.

Oh okay, i see what your saying about his death.

@POTC4TFOY2011: Well if news of this being a new trilogy is true, and the character lives on then it may be played up later, but if he dies in #4 then I doubt they'll sever his head, as that happened after he was already dead to keep the head as a memento for the Adventure when it triumphantly sailed back to port.

Yeah, that'd be pretty interesting! I see what your saying. I wonder if something simular to that would happen in Pirates 4. I think that if Blackbeard dies in Pirates 4, it would be like a shot to his chest or something like that, not a like what really happened to him in real-life, because his head being cutt off in Pirates 4 would be alittle too much, since it is going to be a disney movie, right?. Or do you think they might push it alittle bit with the fourth movie, when it comes to having to do with his death scene in the movie?. Maybe Blackbeard will die in the fourth movie by a cannon blast, which be a quick death for him.

The final battle between QAR & Adventure was actually very similar to the battle between the Black Pearl & Interceptor in POTC1, and the battle between the 2 remaining ships was pretty cool too as it was all happening at once, with Blackbeard fatally injured via neck slash and bayonnetts. Now that'd be awesome to see on screen. Imagine, a depiction of a real pirate fighting after being shot with the whole crew surrendering once he fell cuz they impressed upon them so much.

No, they didn't say which of his ships that would be in the movie. They might film in the caribbean and in other locations too, i've been reading about that on several other websites. Yeah, Ocracoke Isle would be a good place to film the movie, but like you said, it's probably too far north for the writers tastes.

@POTC4FOY2011: Yeah I know they use bits of history, but did they actually say he'd be helming "Queen Anne's Revenge"? Cuz if so, they can't cheat it, for it's a very well known British ship with 50 guns total (most ever for a pirate vessel), and is 1 of 3 large ships that he commanded, and coincidentally enough is the only pirate in history to command such large ships, which is contradicted in the previous trilogy, as Teach was the only one to have such ships in real history.
On that note, it'd be really cool if they could end up off Ocracoke Isle in the climax, though that's probably too far north for the writers' tastes.

Yes he is coming back in the fourth movie. It was confirmed in a mtv movie interview with Jerry Bruckheimer from just as of a few days ago.

The story from the beginning has been Jack Sparrow and Barbossa in hot pursuit of the Fountain of Youth, so I've always assumed that he's returning.

imdb has him listed as "rumored" and he's not listed in the summary here, so as far as I can tell he's not confirmed.

Blackbeard "Edward Teach" will have his ship The Queen Anne's Revenge in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides". The storywriters ted elliott and terry rossio, always use a little realistic history in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

Cruz would be better than Knightly whom was lackluster in her wannabe tough girl role in "At World's End." It's better to make the lead a character already from that world as Ms. Teach certainly would be. I wonder if Edward will be helming Queen Anne's Revenge?

@insertusernamehere: I agree! I'm hesitant about Marshall directing this. Verbinski did such a good job on the trilogy I'm not sure the direction Marshall will take it. However, when you consider it's going to be a unique sort of spinoff with new characters, maybe a totally new feel is a good thing. I'm excited to see who else comes on board as far as supporting characters go.

Can't wait, cant wait. More Pirate films please, in the first three films I found Bloom was utter cold and stiff at times. I'm glad he's gone.

Will and Elizabeth's story was a good one, but it ended in part three. Bringing them back would have been forcing it. I like the story and it has the makings of another good trilogy, with Blackbeard replacing Davy Jones as a recurring villain and Cruz as the female lead(assuming they all survive part 4)...but my biggest complaint remains Rob Marshall. I'm hoping he can pull it off, but until I see some footage I'm gonna remain hesitant.

Best move they made was eliminating Bloom and Knightly. Cruz's accent is absolutely ridiculous, but she's definitely an improvement. I can see her as a pirate. I'm looking forward to this.

Now all they need to do is incorporate the young (and later to be) Captain James Hook. If they make him Blackbeards Boatswain (which is what he was before he became a Captain) I will seriously jump for joy.
