Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest to be Available for Download the Same Day it Hits DVD

iTunes is determined to show that digital downloads don't hurt DVD sales.

In a story from Home Media Retailing, it seems Disney is making Cars and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest available to download the same day they come out on DVD. The Cars DVD hits stores November 7 while Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest bows on December 5.

The movies will sell for $12.99, "the standard price for new releases during their first week of availability." As expected, "the downloaded versions contain none of the extras found on the DVD."

Then, "a week after the titles become available, the price goes up to $14.99."

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest was released July 7th, 2006 and stars Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Jack Davenport, Bill Nighy, Jonathan Pryce, Lee Arenberg, Mackenzie Crook. The film is directed by Gore Verbinski.
