Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End Tops the DVD Sales Charts

The pirate's life is a very good life on DVD.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End made a huge splash on the DVD sales charts, easily taking crown. The pirates' performance was so strong that it was reported the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End disc sold twice as many discs as box office rival Spider-Man 3, and it also outsold the first two Pirates discs on their respective first weeks.

It was a pretty good week to be bad as well, Superbad that is. The raucous comedy was second in sales to Pirates but topped the rental charts with an estimated $14 million in rentals, while the Pirates took the silver in rentals, taking in $9.5 million. Last weeks top renter, Live Free or Die Hard, came in third in rentals with an estimated $8.4 million.

The top two sellers and rentals continued the trend on the high-def side as well. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Superbad went 1-2 for Blu-Ray sales, while Planet Earth: The Complete Collection spent another week atop the HD DVD sales charts.
