Peter Jackson may be developing the fantasy novels
It was said by the site's industry sources that development on the first book of the series is underway, even stating that Weta is already working on designs for the series, which centers on a series of moving cities.
Jackson has had the movie rights to the novel series for some time, it was understood, and while a rep for Jackson wouldn't deny the project is in the works, but added that, "any comment should come from Peter."
We'll be sure to keep you posted on this potential new franchise for Jackson as soon as we have more information.

faith in jackson.
now that his bread has been so thoroughly buttered with lotr and king kong, he gets to focus on doing whatever he wants, and history dictates that what he wants is to make weird movies that are awesome on multiple levels.
i may not like every movie he makes, but the ones i do like - i freakin' love.

Lol. Anything Jacksons touched since Fellowship of the Ring has been movie goer gold. I await this with much anticipation...
and from Weta, who made Avatar, Lotr, Kong and D9...imagine them creating moving cities... Wow.

Anybody able to get in touch with Peter Jackson? I think he should read Hugh Cooks "Chronicles of an age of Darkness". 10 book series, grimey and sexy and would translate well to film.....

Wow. When I read these books years ago I was already ready for a movie. Peter Jackson is one of my favorite directors so im really looking forward to this project.

Mortal Engines has a cool premise with its moving cities...that part reminds me of the reshaping cities from "Dark City." With Jackson & Weta working on this, it's going to be Amazing!!
