TheOneRing.net has been informed by "sources inside both Peter Jackson's "3foot6" production house and WETA Digital that the Lord of the Rings trilogy director trilogy is working on a live action version of the popular The Powerpuff Girls cartoon.

WETA, the visual effects company that worked on Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy and "King Kong" is already hard at work on props and miniatures based on the cartoon," source revealed to the site and "Pete is very excited about this project and is looking for a Summer 2008 release".

Meanwhile, news that his other projects, directing The Lovely Bones and producing Damnbusters, have all been put on the back burner.
