Eragon: According to Variety, Fox 2000 topper Elizabeth Gabler has set Peter Buchman to adapt "Eragon," the Christopher Paolini-penned best-selling fantasy novel about a youth whose discovery of a dragon egg leads him to become a knight and battle an evil king.

Buchman knows his way around an epic. He made a splashy multimillion-dollar deal with IEG on one of the Alexander the Great projects, though the project got shelved when Oliver Stone made his film with Colin Farrell.

The medieval-set tale revolves around a farm boy who learns he is the last of a breed of benevolent Dragon Riders, whose magical powers derived from their bond with the beasts.
