At the end of the first film, Will Smith's superhero character was revealed to be an immortal god who becomes vulnerable in the presence of his goddess companion (Charlize Theron). Berg wants to continue the mythology behind the characters, stating, "There might be another god out there. There might be another one." Berg also hopes to have the subplot of Jason Bateman's character carried throughout the new film, with him continuing to work on his charity campaign.
There is no telling when Berg and his cast will be able to get together for a sequel. When asked if it would be soon, Peter stated, "They'd like to fast-track it, but Will's busy, I'm pretty busy. We're excited to do one, but we want the script to be right and the movie to be right. We don't feel a burning imperative to go right back into it."
The sequel to Hancock has not been greenlit at this time.
Hancock was released July 1st, 2008 and stars Will Smith, Charlize Theron, Jason Bateman, Jae Head, Eddie Marsan, David Mattey, Maetrix Fitten, Thomas Lennon. The film is directed by Peter Berg.

I really enjoyed this film. It's like a screwed-up version of Superman's life. It was funny but when he begins to learn of his past with Theron's character it opens a lot of emotional doors with each of the characters.
I want to see a sequel to Hanc*ck, despite the negative reviews it recieved last year and the comments posted below mine.

I liked only the first half of the movie. It was funny. As he started to sober up it became a different movie. Wasn't crazy about the end. If the 3rd one is a villain, someone who Hanc*ck could have a good fight scene with, then I'd watch it............on bootleg or some free online movie site. Movie tickets cost too much nowadays to go see a movie that's only going to disappoint you.

The only draw this movie has for me is Will Smith. Even though I own Hanc*ck, I thought the first barely surpassed "mediocre." I'll see it, but my anticipation is relatively low.
And as I've stated before, shaking the camera does not make it a trademark Mr. Berg, it just gives the audience a headache and another reason to hate you...

Will has ten films lined up all ready and this won't happen any time soon. Great effects, but come on, Will is losing his touch.

i've wanted to know if there would be a hanc*ck 2 and now we get news. the first one was great one of the beast movies i seen since star wars episode 3. it was everything you wanted to see in a superhero movie were the hero lived in the everyday world. it was funny, it was sad and it had alot of action. but the great thing it had a great story. i gave it 10 stars out of five. i hope they get to make a sequel to Hanc*ck that has the same cast from the first one.

maybe the 3rd god waited for the other to get weak and killed them one by one, that be a cool story to work with, like he wanted to take over and knew he would have alot on his plate if he did with the others at full stength

the Narrator
I'm with Vis. The first one lacked a villain good anywhere near good enough to kick Hanc*ck's ass. And no, Charlize should not come back. Also, I'm with Diaigma, bring in a good cinematographer. Over all the first was only a 3 star movie. Hopefully this will be better.

This third God should put the smack down on Hanc*ck...as in, be an actual villain for Hanc*ck to face.
