Peter Berg Developing Hercules: The Thracian Wars

Movie Picture
Hancock director Peter Berg is creating a new version of Hercules for Universal.

According to Variety, Berg will produce and will develop to direct Hercules: The Thracian Wars. Ryan Condal will write the script, based on a five-issue comicbook series by Steve Moore that debuted in May through Radical Publishing.

"What resonated for them was that this was character driven, about a character who's more man than god, with conflicts and redemption," Barry Levine said.

No production date has been set.

I like Peter Berg, he was cool in Smokin' Aces, Collateral, and I like him as a director like Friday Night Lights, The Kingdom, and Hanc*ck... I read that he was remaking Dunes too

No... I guess I should have worded it better. He is IN the movie. The three main stars are Jamie Fox, Jennifer Garner, and Jason Bateman. They're the team sent to the Middle East to investigate a bombing in an American facility.

oh its only an appearance, a friend of mine made it sound like bateman made the whole movie.

i think some of my friends may have an unhealthy obsession with jason bateman, but he is a likeable dude.

jeez i should have checked his imdb page, i didnt know he directed all that sh*t.

i heard good things about the kingdom (thats with bateman, right?) but havent seen it. in fact the only one of his movies i did see was the rundown, which i wasnt crazy about, but i heard 'very bad things; was okay.

at any rate the success of hanc*ck could be attributed to will smith, im pretty sure that no one in the general public even knows that it was directed by the great white hype.

hahaha, the great white hype, i liked that movie.

No need to talk about this. IF.... IF this happens... it won't be ready til 2011 or 2012. Berg is attached to direct Virtuality, Bran Mak Mom, and Dune before this. And yes... he still needs to prove himself. One major hit could be a fluke.... HOWEVER, i have enjoyed some of his other movies (Friday Night Lights, The Rundown, and Very Bad Things). Wasn't too high on The Kingdom, but Hanc*ck shows he make a blockbuster. We'll see.

Isn't he doing the new DUNE, and didn't they announce the work on similar projects - WAR OF THE GODS and CLASH OF THE TITANS?

i dont wasnt super impressed with his directing in 'hanc*ck'. it was adequate, but he still needs to prove himself in my opinion.

of course im overlooking what seems to be the deciding factor in whether or not a person has skills--- the movie made a lot of money.
but despite the payoff i still think he has a ways to go before he finds himself on my "favorite director" list.
