    Look, I can agree that hollywood has been dead for quite sometime and everyone is frantically scrapping to come up with something new only to find themselves up to their balls in remakes, revisions, prequels, sequels and horrifically unnecessary thre(e)quells. But when you have an actor like Brand you can rest assured knowing if it involves an absurd style to living then he is the person for the job. lets think about this for a second (in regards to your comment about how they wrote his character for him); in the example of, oh I dunno, lets say Edward Norton. He is one of my favorite actors and has won numerous awards on his acting and performance, naturally. Im sure you have or at least heard of his movies such as Primal Fear, Fight Club, American History X etc. he nailed those to the teeth in an extraordinary compilation of acting sequences.

    BUT

    If you saw, say, Death to Smoochy for example, you would see that although these films (this one and the few mentioned above) greatly differ in his acting ability. I know the films are separate genres but the point Im making is DtoS sucked. So whats my point in all this? The characters are his portrayal of WHAT SOMEONE WROTE FOR HIM. so to say that Brand was good in FSM just because someone else wrote it is an unfair and bias personal opinion that doesn't hold an ounce of water.

    Savvy?

    Again I agree remakes are ridiculous and horrendously stupid, but if Brand is on board you can expect to be entertained from start to finish.

    Case closed.

    Marcus, Russell Brand is an extremely talented entertainer, sure, but actor? He was great in Forgetting Sarah Marshall because they wrote the character for him. Same with Bedtime Stories to a certain degree. Playing himself in an original movie is fine but not in the remake of a very loved and popular film.

    Wow, Total Recall, The Neverending Story, and now ARTHUR! I'm usually fine with remakes cause I know the originals will always be intact, but this is just madness.

    Bad decision? Leave it alone? I cant believe my eyes at the sight of the 2 comments below me. I would just like to analyze miss kayti's comment if only for a brief moment;

    Verbatim she says, and I quote "but he won't be playing Arthur, he'll just be playing himself. Bad decision by Warner Bros."

    Wtf? If you have a fictional character that is basically designed for a certain person in mind, or in the extreme case that there is actually a person in the REAL world that not only fits the part, but can actually BE HIMSELF as the character, then how in the hell is it a bad decision? Not even going to mention the fact that Brand is an extremely talented actor/ entertainer (considering his other roles and not just as the amazingly hilarious Aldous Snow in FSM). Sometimes I just don't understand the stupidity of the written (typed) word by those who don't think. On the other hand Im glad I don't because that in fact would make me retarded, much like those who think would be a bad choice to play any form or a drunken fool.

    Ugh, I hate you guys...

    Good on Russell Brand for trying to become a serious(ish) actor but he won't be playing Arthur, he'll just be playing himself. Bad decision by Warner Bros.
