Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels to reunite for Dumb and Dumber 2
Now that brotherly duo Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly have gotten their dream project The Three Stooges out of the way, they are setting their sights on another long gestating project, the sequel to Dumb and Dumber.

The brothers plan to reunite original stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, and have already hired Sex Drive scribes Sean Anders an John Morris to pen the screenplay. Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly hope to direct the film themselves.

The original, which was released by New Line Cinema in 1994, could have been given a sequel earlier, but the studio decided on a cheap knock-off with look-alike actors instead, releasing the prequel Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd in 2003.

There is no set start date for Dumb and Dumber 2, but it could likely be Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly's next directorial effort.

Dumb and Dumber was released December 16th, 1994 and stars Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, Lauren Holly, Mike Starr, Karen Duffy, Charles Rocket, Victoria Rowell, Joe Baker. The film is directed by Peter Farrelly, Bobby Farrelly.

Dumb and Dumber 2 is in development and stars Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels. The film is directed by Peter Farrelly, Bobby Farrelly.

Dumb and Dumber is my all time favorite movie, that movie inspires me and gives me hope. The prequel? Horrid, I watched maybe 5 minutes.

I don't know about this. It's been 17yrs. And I don't think anyone has any respect for the writing minds behind "Sex Drive."

Yeah man, I get what you're saying. I just kinda see everyone going through that "not relevant anymore" kick. I'm one of these people who doesn;t care what is made just as long as it's A. Entertaining B. Has artistic merit or C. both A. and B. but C is rarely the case now a days. For me writing comedy is hard cause you never know what's really going to be funny to people until the actors and director get the material. Yeah I can write funny dialog and scenes but I always struggle with it. So I can understand when a comedy doesn't come out right.

@messenger Yeah, I Love You Phillip Morris only made about 20 million at the box office. Not exactly a profitable movie, especially concerning that payday of Carrey's. I love Carrey, but let's face it, the guy has not been on a great run the past five years or so. His films have been either mediocre or underperformers (Horton Hears a Who being an exception) at the box office, and as a result, Carrey has been moved to that position of "the not that relevant anymore" status. He needs a big hit to put him back at the front of the class, and since new material has not worked out great for him, he may as well go back to something that garnered him his lofty status. Will it work? I guess we'll see.

For as much money Jim Carrey makes I highly doubt he needs anything. I loved I love you Phillip Morris probably one of his best movies in a long time. As for a 2nd Dumb and Dumber movie, I have faith in Carrey and Daniels, they are both talented and can probably do it justice.

The first movie is one of the greatest comedies of all time. Having said that I would enjoy a sequel only if they could get back Carrey and Daniels. If those two come back then sign me up.

I don't think this is long-awaited. I think it's more like "Jim Carrey needs a big hit real bad, so let's go back in time."

@thrashnasty190 @supermanvenom @bawnian-dexeus -- The first one was pretty funny, and I loved Jim and Jeff as a duo, but I don't think this will turn out very good, at all. It should've been left untouched, but this is Hollywood - nothing is not worth trying to milk.

This is GOOD NEWS in all levels! Same cast, same lives, just the way i like it!. dunno if mary would return or not, but i dont think having her back is a good idea because that was a 1 time thing in part1, but maybe they can run into harry's 1st gf the1 who he mentioned in the bath tub.
