Academy Award-winning director of Up, Pete Docter will next take on the human mind with his latest CGI 3D animated adventure Untitled Pixar Project That Takes You Inside the Brain.

Not much was previously known about this exploration of the inner-workings of our psyche, but now Pixar chief John Lasseter has come forward with new story details, revealing that the project, scheduled for release in 2014, will actually take place inside a young girl's head, with her emotions serving as the lead characters.

This is what he had to say about the movie.

"Pete Docter, from Monsters Inc. and Up, is doing a new film that takes place inside of a girl's mind and it is about her emotions as characters, and that is unlike anything you've ever seen."

The movie is currently in production.

Untitled Pixar Project That Takes You Inside the Brain comes to theaters June 19th, 2015. The film is directed by Pete Docter.

@keesjecola I 90% believe that they did Cars 2 because they were told. Cars sells a ton of toys, but is their lowest rated movie. Don't forget Disney cancelled "Pixar's Newt" so they could do Cars 2. John Lasseter may be a big wig over there, but Disney is unfortunately king. I truly believe that people were just going through the motions to make Cars 2. The same spirit just isn't there.

Kind of makes me think about Where The Wild Things Are in a way. @brucewayne: Do you really think they made Cars 2 just because they were told to? I think that, being the studio Pixar is, they just get to do whatever they want. That, and John Lasseter is Chief Creative Officer, so he basically is boss over there.
On topic: Can't wait to see this, looks like they're ready to put strong women in the lead nowadays.

Love Pixar they are the best team in animation. That being said that haven't always delivered like @thaphoenix said. They were over ruled by Disney to make Cars 2, which you can just feel everyone going through the motions in. They took the worst part of their worst movie and made it the focal point on the sequel. Freakin' Mater, the Jar Jar of Pixar.

I am glad to see them back doing what they want to do. Can't wait for Brave!
