Pet Sematary is coming back to life with a new remake at Paramount
1408 screenwriter Matt Greenberg recently turned in a draft to the studio and it is said that Paramount is currently seeking a high-level director for the project. The studio declined comment on the development of this new Pet Sematary remake.
The original 1989 Pet Sematary starred Fred Gwynne and revolves around a family that moves to a sleepy Maine town, where they bury their dead son in a supernatural pet cemetery that brings him back to life with dire consequences.
The movie is based off the book by Stephen King, who has become a hot commodity in Hollywood once again. A franchise is being built around his novel series The Dark Tower at Universal. And we reported earlier this week that an adaptation of his novel The Stand is moving forward at Warner Bros.
No production schedule for this updated version of Pet Sematary was revealed.
Pet Sematary was released April 21st, 1989 and stars Dale Midkiff, Fred Gwynne, Denise Crosby, Brad Greenquist, Michael Lombard, Miko Hughes, Blaze Berdahl, Susan Blommaert. The film is directed by Mary Lambert.

As long as it is Rated R and casting is took serious no "teen heart throbs" i'm in. Personally i would love to see Mark Rufflao in this.

If they remake this movie i hope they stick closer to the book. I want the Wendigo! That was my favorite aspect of the novel.
That creepy sister in the back room used to freak me out as a kid.

I actually have seen Pet Sematary 1 & 2, if some of you don't know Tasha 'Danese' of ST:TNG fame stared in the first film. I liked it for what it was but it was campy and weird to watch animals killing their owners.
And thou shall the dead rise.
the reason why I liked the creepy aspect was the fact of dead pets coming back to life, I was in my teens at that time.
I wouldn't mind a reboot to it as long its really good and it has to be much better than the original.

C'mon meow! Do they gotta remake everything?!?!? Come up with an original idea Hollywood. Or at least do one of his books that hasn't already been made!

Matt Greenberg is hit or miss with a lot of his movies so I'm not to sure about this. I'll probably see it but it probably won't be as good as some of the other horror remakes recently.
