The Resident Evil director will take on this new 3D remake
Iron Man scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway will be writing the film and it was said that Anderson's producing partner, Jeremy Bolt, would produce the film alongside Fredrik Malmberg, Larry Abramson and George Furla.
The original Buck Rogers launched as a radio program in the 1920s, which centered on the title character, a pilot who somehow gets trapped in the 25th Century and must use his fighter pilot skills to ward off the planet's enemies. The radio program spawned the film and the Buck Rogers TV series that ran from 1979 to 1981.
No production schedule was released for the film.
Buck Rogers in the 25th Century was released March 30th, 1979 and stars Gil Gerard, Pamela Hensley, Erin Gray, Henry Silva, Tim O'Connor, Joseph Wiseman, Duke Butler, Felix Silla. The film is directed by Daniel Haller.

I loved Event Horizon after that his films just stank.
Sure I enjoy his newer films but not as much as I like Event, it's a shame that he lost it long ago.
I used to watch Buck back in the day but I sure hope Paul doesn't get this one. Everything he touches now is just garbage.

I dont get it he made such a great film "Event Horizon" and then went on to make resident evil's and AVP he had his chance move over let some one with talent take over this project.

Good point Vanboy...old movie properties doesn't equate to inferior material for current production: good is good! Buck Rogers can be made relevant for today's coddled, techno-obsessed twenty-something demographic...with the same Logic of Clash of the Titans getting a good, theatrical reboot, the same can happen for...Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Battle Star Galactica, etc...it's a matter of the production talent/studio backing involved.

So is Clash of the Titans, but everyone will be showing up in droves to see that, including me. Next reason....

I liked the the 80s series. It could work. Maybe it'll be done by a diferent director by the time production starts. We can hope.

Err
i'm not excited about this, but when some production pics or a cast list or some sh*t comes about then perhaps i will become interested.

Wow, this is Totally a surprise & hella Cool! Buck Rogers is a sci-fi classic that I only caught on to in the 80's with its Star Wars bandwagon ride (hello Battlesta Galactica! Are you next?)...With everything 80's and now, every decade preceding it getting a look over from Hollywood studios, this Reboot, in 3D no less, is Very welcome! If it were me casting...I'd recommend Edward Patinson (yeah, from Twilight - he can act, vs. Channing Tatum) as Buck Rogers & Jessica Biel or Leighton Meister as the Erin Gray/Wilma Deering/hot actress in white jumpsuit love interest. R2 D2's son as Twiggy...c'mon, Will Smith's son is playing the Karate Kid in this summer's reboot!

The original was kinda cheesy. If they make it a little edgy and leave that stupid little robot out, I would check it out.
