Director Paul W.S. Anderson has been confirmed to direct Resident Evil 6, which is believed to be the last movie in the franchise. Production is slated to begin this fall, with Milla Jovovich returning as the ass-kicking Alice. No other cast members have been confirmed at this time, but Sony recently handed out a September 12, 2014 release date.

The special effects house Mr. X is also returning to provide all the visual effects. The director is most likely also writing the screenplay, since he wrote the scripts for every movie since 2002's Resident Evil, but no story details have been released yet.

Back in December, Paul W.S. Anderson confirmed to us that Resident Evil 6 will close out the entire franchise. Here's what he had to say in our exclusive interview.

"I feel that [Resident Evil: Retribution] is very much the beginning of the end for the Resident Evil franchise. I see this movie as the beginning of the end, and the set-up for an epic, and truly spectacular finale. Which I hope will be the next movie."

Resident Evil 6 comes to theaters September 12th, 2014 and stars Milla Jovovich. The film is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson.

@felipe-11 I will just have to wait see how this movie turns out. I have the the third and fourth and fifth movie on Blu-ray, they are all okay movies but they are not great though.

@themoviefanatic Niether am I, but I'm just saying, if you don't want another sh*tty entry in this saga by the same hack of a director then don't give them your hard earned cash, be it movie ticket or a homevideo purchase. At least wait for it on TV or watch it free on Netflix or something if you know it's gonna suck...

@felipe-11 You do have a good point there and that is certainly true. But now that i have all my movies on Blu-ray, i only buy movies on Blu-ray. I have actually never gotten pirated movies before or downloaded movies before and i am just not interested in that kind of thing.

@themoviefanatic Buying this crap on Blu-ray is still giving them money... even more than a ticket. If you want this crap to stop at least pirate it or something.

@felipe-11 I wouldn't bother to go and see Resident Evil 6 in theaters. I'd wait for the Blu-ray to be released. I've seen some of the Resident Evil movie in theaters before, and the few that i've seen in theaters was enough for me.

I may like his horrible films, but even I have a limit.
he wrote all of them - well that's lame - I personally think that he needs to write books instead of directing, then people can bitch about that.
