The move would negate the chances of award consideration for the film, which stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx. It wasn't said if the studio would grant the film a late-December Oscar-quaifying limited run as of yet. Trailers for the film have already been shown in theaters.
Defiance, however, will still be in the Oscar hunt. The studio has pushed its December 12 limited bow to December 31, with a wide release slated for January 16, 2009.
The Soloist was released April 24th, 2009 and stars Jamie Foxx, Robert Downey Jr., Catherine Keener, Tom Hollander, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Nelsan Ellis, Rachael Harris, Stephen Root. The film is directed by Joe Wright.
Defiance was released January 16th, 2009 and stars Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, Jamie Bell, Alexa Davalos, Allan Corduner, Mark Feuerstein, Tomas Arana, Jodhi May. The film is directed by Edward Zwick.
