Paramount Pictures Fast-Tracks Footloose
The studio has brought on Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist director Peter Sollett to rewrite the Jon Hartmere script and hired Craig Zadan and Neil Meron to join Dylan Sellers as producer.
Unlike High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Footloose will aim for an older teen and adult demo. Efron is just about set in a deal that will pay him a mid-seven-figure salary and give him script approval.
Footloose was released October 14th, 2011 and stars Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough, Dennis Quaid, Andie MacDowell, Miles Teller, Ray McKinnon, Patrick Flueger, Kim Dickens. The film is directed by Craig Brewer.

NOOOOO!!!!!! Jesus dance movies then including Footloose and even Dirty Dancing were great films unpussified. You guys know what I'm talking about. Look at this generation's track record with them: Step Up 1&2, You Got Served, Honey, Dirty Dancing 2. And now Paramount want's Zac Estrogen for KEVIN BACON'S role? Footloose wasn't even a teen movie really. It appealed to everyone equally. I think I'm gonna hurl.

This is as necessary as Indy 4. How does this get a greenlight but my beloved Ghostbusters can't get a f*cking movie sequel even with its huge hardcore fan base? Wtf is going on in the world. Jesus.

I am not a little girl. And I will be there. This will be a huge career boost for Efron, as will his 17 Again movie coming out in April.

This is plain out horrible. Why touch a classic when it's not even that old. I think Efron is making a huge career mistake. It will be just little girls going to see it.
