Ron Burgundy may be signing off for good
"So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried."
McKay revealed in our earlier report that the main cast, which included comedy stars such as Will Ferrell, David Koechner, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, had all agreed to take pay cuts to get the film off the ground. It seems, however, that wasn't enough.
We'll be sure to keep you posted on any further details regarding Anchorman 2 as soon as we have more information.
Anchorman: The Legend Continues comes to theaters December 20th, 2013 and stars Paul Rudd, Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Christina Applegate, Luke Wilson, David Koechner, James Marsden. The film is directed by Adam McKay.

I AM FRATSON
PARAMOUNT - SMD. i hate studios. if the fans want it, do it. plain and simple. studios shouldnt own the rights to movies, they end up f*cking everything up.

I'm sure those rich actors could fund it themselves and take a profit share. it's not exactly Citizen Kane 2 they'd be making.
A good script shouldn't cost millions.
Do what Matthew Vaughan has done with Kick Ass and self fund.

@WiseGuy McKay also tweeted a few hours after that they couldn't take it to another studio because Paramount owned it.

paramount shouldn't have passed on the only film Will Ferrel has ever been good in, that's the kind of thing that should be encouraged so we don't end up with duds like Land of the Lost. Plus Anchorman was hilarious, it was by no means a good movie, but it fills a certain niche and its just fun. I actually haven't been to a decent comedy since anchorman. I really would just like a movie that makes me laugh so hard I stop breathing. This new craze with Napoleon Dynamite knockoffs and excessive bathroom and sexual humor is just not funny, at least to me, even for straight up dumb comedy like Anchorman. I really would just like decent comedy to come out.
