Unfortunately I agree with AndrewRyan, you can't see a movie with the attitude of "this is gonna suck" and Cloverfield was phenomenal so...yea. If you don't think so you're probably an idiot who likes Meet the Spartans and Superhero Movie...

jkos18(yes, I'm JUST answering ur u) u don't get the whole point of the movie. It was a monster movie from the point of view of the people. And if u thought it was gonna be so terrible, that's half the problem right there. U can't watch a movie thinking it'll be crap, cuz u'll think that throughout the entire movie without giving it a chance.

a sequel will be great. it will provide more information on the monster and what went down that night. i think it would be interesting if they showed it from the militaries point of view

it has similarities to godzilla but i mean nowadays how can you make a movie involving a 30 story tall monster without godzilla coming to mind? godzilla is an icon who set the foot notes down for any movies of its kind in the future. we all have our opinions but it was not a ripoff of godzilla. altho many aspects of this movie can and will be linked to a similar idea

AndrewRyan this moie was terrible I didn't even pay to go see it cuz I knew it would be bad I watched it online and the whole story was dumb a giant monster attacks a city and they dont kill it sounds to me like a cheap ripoff to a godzilla film

This was nothing like Godzilla, jkos18. The monster was nothing like Godzilla, the whole thing wasn't. That's what makes the movie great.

If they make a second one PLEASE don't make it on the same night!!! It'll be better to get some new events taking place.

A SEQUEL???WHATEVER!!!!!The first one blew chunks as it is.But one thing the monster was pretty cool.

The movie wasn't all that great I dont even think it lived up to any hype. All it this movie was, was a newer version of Godzilla except the lips were insink and it was with a homemade video camera. They shouldn't make a sequel cuz the movie is not worth the money make spend your time and money on something better like payng the damn writers so they go off strike and we can have some good movies for once cuz i'm tired of the same sh*t and remakes

I think a sequel could work. The movie was pretty damn cool, especially considering the premise they went with. Gotta admit, doing a movie like this takes grade A nutsack.
In addition, they left the bulk of the story completely untouched, so there's a lot they can do with a sequel. I know I'm quite interested in finding out the why, and how now that I've seen it.

The Narrator: The Better Man
yeah. wait no. wait. idk. wat r we talkin bout. anyways i think it would totaly be cool if they showed the mother in the second one. and the mother would have to be at least a hundred stories. and i also like the idea of the sequel picking up wit dem whatching the video. that would be cool. then it might b whatchable. not to sure about another camera perspective. also they shouldn't over advertise. they wasted mills over advertising. p.s. it would be cool if the mom of the monster came seeking revenge and she brought a few kids along. that would be a sick battle... but thats jus me.

I liked the pov of the video camera. It was unique, not just another monster movie. But I don't think the sequel should be on the same night. The ending reveals that it's still alive, so follow up with that.

You know...I actually liked the movie. Left some things unanswered. So maybe a sequel is fine. Just a sequel though. None of this Saw sh*t. They probably wont use regular cameras though. Abrams and Reeves love the behind camera effect so we are all just gonna have to suck it up and deal with that. Lets focus on them making the monster bad ass. Cuz lets all agree at least that the monster is pretty unique. Ive never seena anything like it. Maybe similar sure. But not exact. They wont use a camera phone. Thats stupid. It will probably be another camera that was found. The marketing should be even better this time around too. So im in. Just dont f*ck it up Abrams!!!

Cool...I hope that they don't just use a different person's perspective/camera for the same attack as I have read.
C'mon Abrams...explore other avenues...develop the backstory.

chewynate
actually, j.j. abrams said in an interview that the monster that attacked was only a baby and he attacked because he was confused and angry. so the sequal would probably be about its mother, from the p.o.v. of a different camera

I'd actually be interested in this only because the origin of the creature intrigues me. I don't think this will be a first-person video cam account again, but rather a "normally" produced movie. For example, perhaps the movie picks up with the idea that the video (1st movie) was just viewed by whomever (be it military or otherwise), and continues with the story with normal cinematography.
Of course, it will be extremely difficult to recapture the buzz and secrecy of the first film...but who knows what they could come up with.
Just some thoughts; not saying anyone is wrong or right.
Cheers.

It would most likely be a completely different feel behind the marketing. Once Kishin is fully released, the monster's origins will be even more clear. I'd like to see an animated adaptation of the Manga, like a Direct-2-DVD feature. There are two big ideas for the seque, and a smaller onel: a)same night, different camera, b) monster attacking different city(maybe not in USA) or c)tear-assing across America.
