Rufus Sewell joins the cast of Paradise Lost
Actor Rufus Sewell has joined the cast of Paradise Lost for director Alex Proyas and Warner Bros.

Rufus Sewell will portray Samael, a partisan of Lucifer (Bradley Cooper) who urges him to start the war in heaven. Benjamin Walker, Djimon Hounsou, Casey Affleck, Callan McAuliffe, Diego Boneta, Camilla Belle, and Dominic Purcell also star.

Alex Proyas is directing Paradise Lost from a screenplay by Ryan Condal, Stuart Hazeldine, Philip de Blasi, Lawrence Kasdan, and Byron Willinger. The project is adapted from John Milton's 17th Century poem.

Legendary Pictures' Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing alongside Vincent Newman. It isn't known when production will begin on Paradise Lost.

Paradise Lost is in development and stars Bradley Cooper, Benjamin Walker, Djimon Hounsou, Casey Affleck, Camilla Belle, Callan McAuliffe, Dominic Purcell, Diego Boneta. The film is directed by Alex Proyas.

    @skywise @thedude-abides I'm not certain if this will be good or bad, but from what I've read, it will mainly focus on the war, which I will admit is disappointing. But I am hopeful that this will be a good movie.

    @thedude-abides i get where you are coming from. You are right its never a good sign when the story has been writen by many authors. We have seen this time again. The studio is too involved. The cast looks pretty good however.

    @skywise There's no continuity with the cast, and the screenplay is adapted by five writers plus the author of the book, so essentially six writers -- that's six different creative inputs. Any movie I've ever seen with more than two writers has been all over the place; if I had to bet, I'd say this will be also.
