Pain and Gain Photo Finds Dwayne Johnson on the Run
Opening in theaters April 26 is Pain and Gain, director Michael Bay's first non-Transformers movie in over five years. The dark comedy centers on bodybuilders Daniel Lugo (Mark Wahlberg) and Paul Doyle (Dwayne Johnson), who decide to enter the extortion racket and get much more than they bargained for. Paramount Pictures has debuted a new photo of Dwayne Johnson's Paul Doyle, seen fleeing from the scene of a bank robbery, with his loot spilling out of the bag. Take a look at this photo, featuring the actor in some snazzy Miami threads (which are not appropriate for bank robbing), then read on to see what director Michael Bay had to say about his new film.
The project, written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger), is based on a true story, and does involve these bodybuilders using steroids. However, Michael Bay revealed that steroids also serve as a metaphor for the whole story.
"There were a lot of steroids. That's really the whole metaphor for this whole movie. It's about people who just aren't happy with what they've got. It's 'If I was just a little bit bigger,' or 'If I was just a bit richer, I'd be happy.'"
Pain & Gain was released April 26th, 2013 and stars Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Anthony Mackie, Tony Shalhoub, Ed Harris, Rob Corddry, Bar Paly, Rebel Wilson. The film is directed by Michael Bay.
