Anyone else notice the voice of GLaDOS from Portal?

I can't honestly say I'm interested in this, but hey, it'll probably be the biggest movie in Japan ever.

@moviemaniac66 Perhaps, but he could just do the film and be done with the franchise, and be free from the questions.

@ejk1 - He has talked about his influences on the film. He states that the films are influenced by Japanese monster movies and such. And i can understand him not wanting to finish Hellboy. He probably wants to expand his resume and show that he can do bigger films. I can respect the fact that he does not want to get stale. But who knows, maybe one day he'll return to the franchise. Wasn't really a big fan of the series anyways.

This movie is too much, i dont know, all i was doing was squeezing my eyes to see what exactly was going on, its too heavy on the eyes. But like my fellow movieweb fan said, its heavily infleunced by japanese shows. Come to think of it, if Power Rangers was to get a remake with a dark tone, this is the answer. Its good to Idris Elba in charge, but knowing fully well, he will die at the end, brothers dont survive this sort of thing, they rather run into church and wait till the dust settles!! Lol

@bawnian-dexeus: If you want a giant robot film I'd rather see a live action Robotech or Macross film. I know a few years ago there were rumors studios were considering it, but nothing came of it.

As for the trailer itself I enjoyed it, but was also underwhelmed. It seemed to CGI heavy. I know you can't make a film like this with massive special effects, but it just didn't look real to me almost cartoonist, but this is only the first trailer and like you said Del Toro is good with these kinds of films so hopefully the next trailer and the film will be much better then this one.

Subtle differences abound, but this is heavily influenced by Japanese shows. Voltron, Power Rangers, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and even the old Gigantor cartoon clearly made impression on Del Toro. What I'd like is for him to acknowledge these properties as influential, if he has not done so already. And I still can't believe he chose to do this over Hellboy 3. Whatever the feelings are over the first two, he should at least finish his damn trilogy, or let another have a go at the thing.

    1. Not how I expected it to look
    2. Del Toro is a visionary director, and you can definitely see it
    3. Visuals are quite heavy, but they blend at least ,even though they could look a bit crisper and, well, real
    4. There's that bloody horn again. I'm sick of it
    5. I expect the soldiers to actually be inside the suits, but this will do
    6. A Gundam movie is not yet ready for the big screen
    7. I can't wait, but to hell with 3D
