Overture Films Sets Let Me In for an October Release

Let Me In Overture Films is pleased to announce the release date of Let Me In as October 1st, 2010. Currently shooting in New Mexico, the film directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) stars Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road), Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass) and Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins (The Visitor). The studio has also released the official synopsis of the film, which you can see below.

An alienated 12-year-old boy befriends a mysterious young newcomer in his small New Mexico town, and discovers an unconventional path to adulthood in Let Me In, a haunting and provocative thriller written and directed by filmmaker Matt Reeves (Cloverfield).

Twelve-year old Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee) is viciously bullied by his classmates and neglected by his divorcing parents. Achingly lonely, Owen spends his days plotting revenge on his middle school tormentors and his evenings spying on the other inhabitants of his apartment complex. His only friend is his new neighbor Abby (Chloe Moretz), an eerily self-possessed young girl who lives next door with her silent father (Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins). A frail, troubled child about Owens's age, Abby emerges from her heavily curtained apartment only at night and always barefoot, seemingly immune to the bitter winter elements. Recognizing a fellow outcast, Owen opens up to her and before long, the two have formed a unique bond.

When a string of grisly murders puts the town on high alert, Abby's father disappears, and the terrified girl is left to fend for herself. Still, she repeatedly rebuffs Owen's efforts to help her and her increasingly bizarre behavior leads the imaginative Owen to suspect she's hiding an unthinkable secret.

The gifted cast of Let Me In takes audiences straight to the troubled heart of adolescent longing and loneliness in an astonishing coming-of-age story based on the best-selling Swedish novel Lat den Ratte Komma In (Let the Right One In) by John Ajvide Lindqvist, and the highly-acclaimed film of the same name.

Let Me In also stars Elias Koteas, Cara Buono, Sasha Barrese and will be released on October 1.

Let Me In was released October 1st, 2010 and stars Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloe Moretz, Richard Jenkins, Cara Buono, Elias Koteas, Sasha Barrese, Jimmy Pinchak, Chris Browning. The film is directed by Matt Reeves.

plus, from what i understand, there was a lot of stuff in the book that was ignored or glossed over in the original, so theres always achance that the new version will incorporate some of that additional material into the final product.

    who knows.

Though I am uber excited about this remake I will give it a chance as I do all movies (well, most) I mean who knows. They could add something to the story that makes it just as good as the original but with different elements. It could happen.

Well I am a f*cking American and I can say one thing: F*ck you to haters of America, who are probably living in shacks as gardeners in some rich guys home IN New Mexico. I mean who do you think started the entertainment industry as we know it? Jeez.

Anyways, Insert said it right. You guys are going into this knowing it will be bad. I mean if you worship the story so much, then you should at least give this a chance.

  11. Uh-huh

I loved the original. Can't Hollywood think of their own ideas, instead of rehashing, and messing up movies other people worked hard to put together.

Lol yeah. It (the trailer) could serve as a basic "jump on the bandwagon" or "head for the hills" standpoint.

  16. The Narrator: The Better Man

Well said Insert. I mean Reeves seems like a cool guy and respectful, but he has to understand how this is not a horror film or anything as much as it is more a coming of age look in the minds of a pair of troubled kids one more troubled than the other in a way unimaginable. The original which I watched yesterday was chillingly beautiful. I loved the that there wasn't too much dialogue because the actors we're well off enough that silence spoke better than words. So it wasn't barred down with a lot of talk at least. And the slight eeriness of it some times especially for a foreign film was awesome. So having it in english... Thats me. I look forward to this still and can't wait for the trailer.

Looking forward to it out of curiosity. It has a chance of being good, but a high chance of being bad. The original is one of my all time favorites. Reeves needs to worry about capturing the relationship between the boy and girl more than anything.
