Overture Films Grabs Brooklyn's Finest

According to Variety, Overture Films snapped up the U.S. rights to Antoine Fuqua's Brooklyn's Finest.

The film stars Richard Gere, Ethan Hawke and Don Cheadle. It was sold for about $2 million.

The script was written by Michael C. Martin. It centers on three cops in Brooklyn "who end up at the same deadly location after experiencing diverging career paths."

Initially, Senator Entertainment picked up the movie at Sundance in January. They paid almost double for it. However, Senator wasn't able to put together the P&A funds to release it this year. Suddenly, Brooklyn's Finest was available.

"We loved the film when we first screened it, and we are happy Antoine's final vision for the film has found a home at Overture," stated Overture presidents Chris McGurk and Danny Rosett at the Toronto film festival.

"Overture really stepped up for me," offered Fuqua.

Brooklyn's Finest was released March 5th, 2010 and stars Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Ethan Hawke, Wesley Snipes, Vincent D'Onofrio, Brian F. O'Byrne, Will Patton, Michael K. Williams. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua.
