Overture Films Acquires Robert de Niro Film Stone

Overture Films is acquiring U.S. distribution rights to the dramatic thriller Stone, Overture CEO Chris McGurk and COO Danny Rosett announced today. The film stars Oscar-winner Robert De Niro (Raging Bull), Oscar-nominee Edward Norton (Fight Club), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil franchise) and Golden Globe-winner Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under).

John Curran (The Painted Veil) directs Angus MacLachlan's (Junebug) script about a convicted arsonist (Norton) who looks to manipulate a parole officer (De Niro) into a plan to secure his parole by placing his beautiful wife (Jovovich) in the lawman's path.

"Curran is a gifted director working from a fantastic script and with a top-notch ensemble of actors," McGurk and Rosett said. "All of us at Overture are excited to be adding this exciting film to our slate for next year."

Stone is financed by Mimran Schur Pictures and Millennium Films and produced by David Mimran, Jordan Schur and Holly Wiersma with Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short serving as executive producers. Nu Image is handling international sales.

Producer Jordan Schur added, "Chris and Danny have made clear their passion for Stone. Overture is intent on presenting the film with vigor and grace, and figures to be a great fit for Mimran Schur. We look forward to a successful creative and business partnership."
