Original Star Trek Films Coming to Blu-ray in May

It seems that the first few films from the U.S.S. Enterprise will be getting the high-definition treatment before the remake is released in theaters. The Digital Bits is reporting that the first six Star Trek films - Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country - will be released on Blu-ray sometime this coming May.

Each film is said to be released in its original theatrical version, but with remastered picture and sound quality. While full special features weren't revealed, it was said that the set will include "famous fan commentaries" featuring celebrities talking about the films and some select scenes from a Klingon performance of Hamlet, which was performed by the St. Paul, MN troupe, Commedia Beauregard.

It was also noted by the site that the four Next Generation films - Star Trek: Generations, Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection and Star Trek: Nemesis - would be released on Blu-ray later on as well.

The site also revealed that Star Trek: The Original Series - Season One will be released in Blu-ray on that same unspecified street date as the other BD set. Take a look at the artwork below.
