Oren Moverman is set to direct the Kurt Cobain biopic
Screenwriter David Benioff (Brothers) was initially attached to the project in the Fall of 2007 when it was at Working Title and Reveille.
Much of the material on the life, music and 1994 suicide of the Nirvana singer-songwriter will be adapted from Charles R. Cross' 2001 biography, "Heavier Than Heaven: A Biography of Kurt Cobain." Universal initially purchased the life rights of both Cobain and widow, Courtney Love. She had already optioned the film rights to the Cross book.
Love is going to be an executive producer along with her lawyer Howard Weitzman.
Moverman's The Messenger has landed Oscar nominations for the original screenplay. Woody Harrelson, who co-stars in the film, also earned a nomination for supporting actor.

Very Cool...I actually bought & read this book and it was an awesome biography. Like Charles said, I can't believe it's been that long either. What a tremendously talented guy.

Even though this happened almost 16 years ago, it still seems like only yesterday. I hope it turns out good but we all know how that goes.

Sweet. The man deserves a blockbuster feature. Although I still don't believe it was a 'suicide.'
