Hayley Atwell being considered for the female lead in One Shot
One Shot centers on Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise), a former military police officer who is caught in the middle of an investigation of a sniper who has killed five people. The female lead is a hard-nosed attorney who is also the daughter of the district attorney. Brit Marling was an early favorite for the role, although a deal could not be made.
Christopher McQuarrie adapted the screenplay for One Shot and will also direct. The project is based on the novel by Lee Childs, which is the ninth book in the Jack Reacher series.
Production will start sometime this fall in Pittsburgh.
Jack Reacher was released December 21st, 2012 and stars Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins, David Oyelowo, Werner Herzog, Jai Courtney, Vladimir Sizov, Joseph Sikora. The film is directed by Christopher McQuarrie.
