Oliver Stone Sets Up Wall Street 2

Director Oliver Stone is revisiting his 1987 classic for a new follow-up project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stone has signed a deal with Fox for a sequel to his 1987 film Wall Street, tentatively titled Wall Street 2.

Allan Loeb (21) wrote the script and, while a plotline for the sequel was not revealed, the film will take a look at Gordon Gecko, 20 years later. Michael Douglas starred as Gecko in the original, taking home the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal. This film will have Gecko taking on a younger protoge, with Shia LaBeouf in negotiations for the younger role.

It was said that Douglas' involvement in the sequel is almost a sure thing, since he has reportedly read and liked the new script.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on any new developments on this new sequel as soon as we have more information.

Wall Street was released December 11th, 1987 and stars Charlie Sheen, Tamara Tunie, Franklin Cover, Chuck Pfeiffer, John C. McGinley, Hal Holbrook, James Karen, Leslie Lyles. The film is directed by Oliver Stone.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps was released September 24th, 2010 and stars Michael Douglas, Shia LaBeouf, Josh Brolin, Carey Mulligan, Eli Wallach, Susan Sarandon, Frank Langella, Austin Pendleton. The film is directed by Oliver Stone.

i watched wall street for the first time a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.

my initial reaction to the idea of a wall street 2 was 'hmm, thats a stupid idea' but when you consider current times it kind of makes the sense. then again i just saw the name 'shia labiff' as a main character so now im not interested anymore.

oliver stone is a great director but shia labiff is just awful.

Glad to hear that this is finally rolling after alot of murmurings for a couple of years. Wall Street is a Great movie!...along with Platoon, they are two of the best 80's dramas. Stone /Sheen at the top of their game.

Of Oliver Stone's movies, I think I would like Wall Street more than Platoon if it hadn't been for Daryl Hannah, who is a terrible actress. But that's beside the point. Wall Street 2 would only be good if Michael Douglas came back. And even that isn't a guarantee to make it good.
