Nottingham Changes Title to Robin Hood

There has been some confusion swirling around Ridley Scott's next project, Nottingham, and Ridley Scott has cleared some of it up, starting with a new title. According to MTV Movies Blog, Ridley Scott has revealed that his new film Nottingham will now be changed to simply Robin Hood.

"Oh yes, I think we are just going to call it Robin Hood," Scott told the site. "We start in almost 2 months."

Scott also revealed that the notion that Russell Crowe would portray both the title character and the Sheriff of Nottingham has since been abandoned and Crowe will now just portray Robin Hood.

"Robin Hood is in the army of Richard Coeur de Lion," he said of how we'll find the character early in the film "He is a bowman in the army of Richard Coeur de Lion."

"[Crowe as both Robin and the Sheriff of Nottingham] was an idea so far back, way back when at the time I had this proposed to me, and I read it and thought, 'I don't really know what it does for it, but it's alright'," Scott recalled of the now-abandoned idea. "It is better to simply have the evolution of a character called Robin Hood, who will come out of a point in the Crusades which is the end."

I have to semi agree with Pype on this one...not in so many words of course..but gawldamn why do we need yet another Robin Hood movie? How many times are they going to tell this tale?

I wasn't really feeling the Crowe as Nottingham AND Robin Hood angle either. That just sounded silly.

Hmmm... I sound grumpy all of the sudden.

I liked this better when it was going to be from the point of view of The Sheriff of Nottingham. This suddenly got really boring really fast. Bland name, no concept...

I can see Crowe as either the sheriff or robin hood, his suitable for both roles.
But if he is gonna be Robin, he should at least lose the pop-belly, lol. I can't imagine Robin Hood with a pop-belly.

I reckon Orlando Bloom would have been a good Robin Hood but maybe i'm just being stereotypical from his role that he played in Lord Of The Rings.

Not to be bad but Ridley Scott lately has been getting crap, Body of Lies was a brilliant concept but very poorly executed.
American Gangster was average but the true story is better, there was so much missed out

Good thing it's Ridley Scott, or else I'd lose all faith in this movie. Doesn't sound like things are going well. I can't picture Crowe as Robin Hood. I liked it better when Bale was attached and Crowe was going to be the Sheriff. Guess we'll have to see

If Crowe was both it could've been cool. No one knows who Robin Hood is. Why, he's the Sheriff of Nottingham! How deceitful they could've made it. He'd be in on all the political stuff as well as know how they'd be coming for him. Just put up a front as Sheriff and be the hero Robin Hood when needed! Good concept.

Hmmmmm it sounds like that there will be too much going on in this film for the auidence to fathom.
His making it too overcomplicated, you see if Crowe was the Sheriff of Nottingham & Robin Hood, i reckon people would reckon that they are brothers, it would a basic but rather interesting twist.

But this has now a basic title with what i think the auidence will see as a very complicated plot.
But ya all know this film is gonna be dramatically compared to Robin Hood starring Kevin Costner.

Which by far looks like it had a better cast than this one, Costner, Rickman, Freeman.

But this has Crowe and the new one playing Maid Marian.

But it'd be interesting to see Scott's take

I was looking forward to "Nottingham" not another Robin Hood remake.
From the rumors I had heard once upon a time "Nottingham" was going to be the story of Robin Hood as seen by the sherrif, seemingly making the sherrif good, and Robin Hood evil. That to me would have been a fun and entertaing twist on the story we all know.

I liked Nottingham a lot more; Robin Hood seems too simple.
But, honestly, I'm lost. Crowe's the Sheriff. Crowe's the Sheriff AND Robin Hood. Now he's Robin Hood. Next week, he'll be Maid Marian.
