@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx I said the same thing to @bawnian-dexeus before I saw the trailer, lol. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

@thedude-abides -- Eh, I'll wait after I see it to judge the trailer. Either way, I think that - in the end - the trailer will prove to be misleading. Aronofsky has been doing an incredible job within the past 13 years, and to direct two movies as great as "The Wrestler", and "Black Swan" most recently, I think there's a big chance 'Noah' will be part of the 'family', so to speak.

Its funny how all of a sudden these Biblical movies are making a come back after all these years, its like the writing is on the wall.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx Let's just say it looks nothing like Black Swan or The Wrestler. It's obvious Aronofsky didn't have the same level of creative control he's accustomed to having. Seems as though a lot of people had their hands in his pie, so to speak.

@thedude-abides -- Not watching the trailer, man. I've watched trailers for movies if it was:

    A) Out of my control.
    B) For movies I probably won't watch until years after it's release.
    C) Contained no vital footage(The Raid 2)

I am, however, EXTREMELY tempted to watch the trailer - given both your, and @narrator's assessment.

Very disappointing. The CGI looked second-rate, the performances looked a cut below those synonymous with Aronofsky's prior work, and to @narrator's point, the sci-fi elements that were prevalent in the graphic novel were virtually non-existent in the trailer. And this is coming from someone who's a huge fan of the director and most of the cast.

I'd be interested to hear what @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx has to say..

Alright, I have to get the negative stuff out of the way. Visually speaking, aside from the opening and closing clips which were pretty cool, I wasn't impressed. From both Aronofsky and Libatique, I expected much better given the gritty source material found in both the Bible and the graphic novel. That's a disappointment considering that's what a lot of this film was hinging on for me. Then there is the lack of science fiction elements shown in the film, a unique twist that really hooked me to the project. So yeah, not quite what I expected.

That being said... that was awesome. The cast, the soundtrack by AudioMachine, the themes at work here. I am definitely looking forward to this film, albeit with slightly less expectations for now.

As for all the people bitching about this being religious or whatever, I love that anything remotely pseudo-christian is criticized but films focusing on Confucianism, Buddhism, or even Islamism for the most part aren't. I've mentioned it before and I'll mention it again. The dislike for "the church" clouds a lot of peoples judgement and prevents them from seeing some great things, such as the potential in this film. Not "religious propaganda", whatever the f*ck that is in this case seeing as how almost the entire world has heard of Noah and the Ark, but rather solid entertainment on a transcendent level.

For old fashioned stories like this one, you can only reboot it by up to date special effects, and for great special effects people will still go and see it.

Do you really think the story of Noah is a "classic children's tale", or is that how you view the Bible?

I wouldn't pay a penny to watch this Religious propaganda. It does look good, but Ill pass. Im sure this will get "best picture" nods just based off the religious zealots in this country.
