Noah Lands at Paramount Pictures

Earlier this month, we reported that director Darren Aronofsky will make Noah his next project. At the time, he was shopping the movie out to distributors, and now it has found a home at Paramount Pictures. Both Paramount and 20th Century Fox were vying for the distribution rights in a bidding war, with Paramount ultimately prevailing.

Paramount will team up with New Regency to co-finance and co-distribute Noah, which will reportedly be made on a $130 million budget. Darren Aronofsky will direct Noah from a screenplay he co-wrote with John Logan.

Two weeks ago, we reported that Christian Bale was being sought to portray the title character in this re-telling of the Biblical Noah's Ark story. Last week, Darren Aronofsky indicated Noah is not particularly a religious story, but a fable which had never been fully told on the big screen before. The director also didn't comment on the news that Christian Bale was in contention for the lead role.

It isn't known when production will start on Noah, although it could come together quickly with financing now fully secured.

Noah comes to theaters March 28th, 2014 and stars Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Saoirse Ronan. The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky.

This should be a solid movie regardless of who plays the lead really.

Nice. If he gets Christian Bale, that might net Bale his 2nd Oscar win. Maybe.

I knew a big studio would pick this up, despite claims to the contrary. I agree, @thrashnasty190. This is gonna rule.
