No Transformers 2 for Michael Bay?

Michael Bay was so unhappy about Paramount and DreamWorks' decision to back HD-DVD that he declared "No Transformers 2 for me!" on his personal Web forum. According to Variety, the deal garnered the studios financial incentives valued at a reported $150 million.

Bay continued his statement by saying, "I want people to see my movies in the best formats possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks!" After talking with executives at Paramount, Bay recounted his previous statement.

He said, "Last night, I was having dinner with three Blu-ray owners, they were pissed about no "Transformers" Blu-ray and I drank the Kool-Aid hook, line and sinker. So at 1:30 in the morning I posted -- nothing good ever comes out of early a.m. posts mind you -- I overreacted. I heard where Paramount is coming from and the future of HD and players that will be close to the $200 mark, which is the magic number. I like what I heard. As a director, I'm all about people seeing films in the best quality possible, and I saw and heard first-hand people upset about a corporate decision."

He continued, saying, "So today I saw 300 on HD, it rocks! So I think I might be back on to do Transformers 2!" Bay couldn't be reached for comment at press time.

Transformers was released July 2nd, 2007 and stars Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Rachael Taylor, Anthony Anderson, Jon Voight, John Turturro. The film is directed by Michael Bay.

a movie that makes over 300 million does not suck SOrry.... Everyone has there own opinion. I have been a tf fan since the 80's and i thought the movie was off the hook but I would have liked to see more characters in the movie. I also thought the cast worked well together.

I understand all you people defending the movie. Im a Transformers fan as well, but I accept this was a sh*tty movie. For those pointing out that Mex didnt see the entire thing, let me remind you that you dont have to eat sh*t to know it tastes bad. Yes, this movie as never expected to win any oscars or any awards of any kind. But you cant deny it could've been done better. If you were entertained and at the edge of your seat with this piece of crap it was Transformers, please kindly shut the f*ck up, adults are talking.

it's as simple as that TF sucks and always will a sequel will suck too... i was so annoed while watching it and i realy wanted to leave on half of it but i paid about 10 dollars and i had to stay. it's not even a good action flick... talking about these try and watch 300 it got good storyline, good acting, good action scenes and music...

Harry potter unfortunatly wasn't as i expected it to be ('cause i read the book first) but it was really enjoyable and had some good stuff in it (unlike TF)

    Dear Mex,
I never said that Transformers was good or bad. I simply stated that you are not a film critic. To be critical of a film you have to watch the entire film. (sixth sense for example is an o.k. movie if you dont watch the last 5 minutes, Its those crucial minutes that make the film great.) For you to agree with another post with out seeing the film is just horrible for credibility. Do you always criticize films after only 15 minutes of viewing? By the way I promise I wont throw any more "rocks" at you while your mowing. I'm also gonna spend my 30th in YOUR moms basement ;)

OK, I'm gonna spell this out... I don't care how much money it makes, I don't care who directs it, and I don't care who stars in it. What matters to me is AM I ENTERTAINED for the 2 hours I watch it. Transformers didn't have the best graphics, the best acting, or a great director. I don't even think it was a great, Earth shattering, mind blowing movie, but what I am saying is that it entertained me. I said in my last post that I think it is one of the better action movie to come out in the last few years. That means that there were some better action flicks as well as better movies from othe genres. I don't expect to change anyone's mind on this movie, you either love it or hate it. I for one loved it, and no amount of name calling is going to change my mind.

First of ALL, AMEN to markdchapman!

Second, to jcurtis, I respect your believes and your right to your opinion. SO RESPECT MINE! I can walk out of any movie at what ever time I please, and still declare my self a critic!!! But just so you know the reason I walked out its Michael Bay, this movie its the same as Armageddon and Pearl Harbor, they all sucked! So I wasn't going to waste my 111 pesos for the same trash!!! The only reason I went to see it is because most of my close friends recommended the movie, to the point of paying for my ticket if I didn't like it. So I said to myself, "Wow, it must be a good movie and I'm sure to like it due to my poor expectations." Unfortunately, it lived up to my expectations! Thank God for Born Ultimatum because Transformers almost ruined my entire weekend!!! And don't get confused with my comments, it's not that I don't like the concept of Transformers, its the movie that Michael Bay directed that I don't like, so go vise versa yourself! The fact here is that TRANSFORMERS SUCKED ASS!! ...and if you don't believe me read markdchapman's comment, it's dedicated to you...

So calm down tiger.. why don't you go see transformers for the 13th time or go jerk off to Frodo or go celebrate your 30th birthday in your mom's basement.

I can tell you this not all of Bay's movies sucked, the Island was actually a really good movie. transformers was the best film this summer and if you want to talk about bad screenwriting look at harry Potter and the order of the pheonix, michael goldenberg f@%#ed that puppy up!!!!!!!!

Oh, come on! Transformers was awful. Michael Bay is a bad story teller. And pointing 9 cameras at something and then blowing it up is not a talent. He can't pick a screenplay to save his dick. He clearly can't direct actors. And people defending Transformers because it made a lot of money are either idiots or a slave to marketing. A lot of bad movies made a ton of money. That does not make Transformers Epic or ground breaking or even good for that matter. It just makes it ripe for more equally bad sequels. And just because you and your roommate, and your roommates friends all liked -- it doesn't mean you're not all complete morons.

Well, let's think about this MaViNx. I'm not a fanboy of Transformers, neither is my roommate, or another friend of mine. We watch more movies than we know what to do with, so we have open minds about them. I was one of the originals to say this movie was going to probably be bad, but I was wrong. It was one of the better action flicks to come out in the last few years. You can't judge in a 15min timeframe. OK, now to the point of the article... Bay should (for lack of a better word) shut-up about the DVD release. He is a director, not a studio owner. While I agree with him, it is not his job to decide these things.

I saw it all and didnt like the story. Sure it was kickass to finally see a movie of something you grew up watching as a kid, but that alone does not make a good film. As a Transformers fan, i can say that I would've likee more than just a Michael Bay 'Popcorn movie'.

i've seen the transformers movie in its entirety, and i honestly didn't like it, mainly since the little decepticon that was a boombox got most of the screentime compared to other bots, some died to early with a death scene that wasn't compelling enough, and then megatron comes in at the last 20-30 min and well you know how he dies- michael bay should come in for a sequel though, i'd like to see a more refined film

Mex you make comments and slam a movie you have not even seen. So upon a glance at your profile i see that you state you are a film fan and a film critic. I do believe that any true film critic would watch the movie completely, just to at least give it a chance. I did with Gilli and El Cantante (god gave me strength). Only after, did I blast the movie. For you to pay $10 dollars (or 111 peso what ever is easiest for you), then walk out shows your not even close to a critic, and you supported the film anyway with out viewing it. For you to say in a previous post about pirates 3"..just because you don't like them, it does not mean they are bad films(and vice versa)...so if you don't like them it's your problem. Then have the audacity to criticize another film, one that you have not even seen prove that you think ignorance is bliss. Well I'm here to tell you its not, your just a moron. By the way the premise to the move was giant robots fighting a war on our planet. Anyone who looked at that a said "sounds like a serious art house project" is douche. I think most people understand its a popcorn film and, you have to suspend belief when viewing certain movies. I will now, along with most others, suspend belief when viewing YOUR posts.

If your stupid ass would have sat through it you would have liked it. No one can judge a movie in only 15 minutes. Transformers was awesome and millions of others agree so ha f*ckin ha! Whats funny is that you paid money for a movie you watched for only 15 minutes, dumbsh*t.

Ummm. . . there's a transformers 2? Well for the record the first one sucked, i walked out of the theater 15 mins into the movie. i actually will look forward to the second one, once i get through the first one, if Bay doesn't direct it.

Sounds Like he needs to take his pride out of the equation and just do his job as a director/producer and let others handle the dvd release. Im not sayin hes wrong, I can see where hes comin from but thats not his call. He'll be back.
