No One Told Ewan McGregor About 'Star Wars' Spin-Off Movies

The actor is old enough to play Obi-Wan Kenobi in a Han Solo stand-alone movie, rumored to be in delevopment.
Earlier this week, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that they are making Star Wars spin-off movies after Star Wars: Episode VII, two of which will reportedly center on Han Solo and Boba Fett. Apparently not everyone got the news, including actor Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kennobi in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. The actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to promote his new movie Jack the Giant Slayer, where he revealed he was not aware of these stand-alone movies. Take a look at what he had to say in the video below.

There are a couple of things that can be drawn from the actor's statement. One is that Disney has no plans of utilizing the Obi-Wan Kenobi character at all. Or, he may not be old enough to play the character in a Han Solo spin-off movie, depending on how young the character is going to be. Do you think Ewan McGregor could pull off a 55 year-old Ben Kenobi? Does he even need to be in a Han Solo movie? Maybe the Yoda movie?

Star Wars: Episode VII comes to theaters December 18th, 2015 and stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong'o. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.

Ha, poor Ewan. He was easily the best part of the prequels. I'd debate that he made the films decent.

I don't hate the prequels like most, but even the haters can't say that Ewan McGregor wasn't great as Obi-Wan Kennobi. As for the spin-offs, a Boba Fett spin-off meant work, Han Solo not so much.

These spin off movies sound interesting, but why not deal with characters that have been little explored so far. Such as Darth Maul, they would have good amount of back history that can be created. I dont know if its just me but Han Solo and Boba Fett are not too interested, as they appear a bit in the films.

Why? He died. Vader died. The emperor died. Yoda died. Why not just have a time jump and start with new characters? Anakin's story was already told
