No New Superman Movie in the Works

With all the new activity around the newly-formed DC Entertainment, it seems there is at least one franchise that won't be revived in the near future. According to MTV Splash Page, it seems a new Superman film is not being planned, according to the new head of DC Entertainment, Diane Nelson.

"We actually don't have any current plans for Superman," said Nelson when asked if the new environment (and the recent legal decision regarding the character) made a Superman movie more or less likely in the near future.

This doesn't mean that a new Superman film won't happen, but it seems we might have to wait quite a bit before we see this on the silver screen. Click Here! for more of what Nelson had to say.

Superman: Man of Steel comes to theaters June 14th, 2013 and stars Henry Cavill, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.

Ok, I'm confused, how can you report one day that there is no new Superman news and the next report that Singer has signed on for a sequel? And even know the name of the title?

he should appear in justice league, then they can put in little parts about his story in it and then build off that for a solo film..

I still say start from scratch. As wonderful as Williams' score is, make a new theme and score. And no cheap tricks either. Making the world turn backwards reverses time? Yeah right :P

I wanted Mark Millers epic trilogy. I mean was he bullsh*tting us when he said he was working with a big time action director who was under wraps? I mean damn it Siegels!

I agree. Its a good move. By losing the origin rights you cannot do a reboot/keep true to history that is superman. I think it is stupid. Im with JA, f*ck the Siegels.

Hmmmm, this is good because technically who is really gonna work with the Siegels once the rights go back to them, so yeah just leave it is my best vote.
Also as Phil pointed out, the lawsuit and all having to have a new movie out by 2011 with new possible way to use the origins kinda sucks since they wanted to reboot the franchise

This is a good move you guys. Prior to the formation of DC Entertainment, all the news regarding a revamp of the Superman movie series has been pretty choppy. Between Warner Bros. not knowing where to go with the Man of Steel and lawsuit-which resulted in them having to release a new Superman movie as insanely early as 2011-DC Entertainment needs to prioritize and shelf this superhero for now. I say focus more on Batman 3 and Green Lantern.
