No Hulk Stand Alone Movie Until at Least 2017; Kevin Feige Teases Planet Hulk!

The Incredible Hulk is one Marvel character that hasn't fared well on his own in the cinematic universe. He didn't really get a chance to shine and show his true potential on-screen until this past summer's Marvel's The Avengers. Which makes one think he might be better off as the cherry on top of an ensemble. But Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige doesn't see him that way, and plans to utilize the mammoth green wrecking machine a lot in the distant future.

In talking with MTV, Kevin Feige even went as far as to tease a live-action Planet Hulk (which was turned into an animated feature in 2010).

"I don't think there's a lot that we couldn't do someday, as the cinematic universe continues to grow and expand and get as big as the comic book universe. Planet Hulk is a cool story. World War Hulk is a cool story. I think there are pitfalls of continuity-overload, and mythology getting so dense that it almost collapses in on itself. It happens every few decades or so in the comics. Apart from that, I'd say everything is on the table.

Do I think Hulk can carry a movie and be as entertaining as he was in Marvel's The Avengers? I do believe that. I do believe he absolutely could. We certainly are not even going to attempt that until The Avengers 2. So there's a lot of time to think about it.

Part of what's fun about the way we played him in Marvel's The Avengers is the ensemble quality of it. I think the pathos and humor showcased a different element of Hulk that's there in the comics, and was always inherent in his character. But when he was so brooding in his other two films, he didn't get to have that wry sense of humor."

So, there you have it. According to Kevin Feige, there won't be another stand-alone Hulk until at least 2017 (yes, that's right, you do the math).

@ghostman No, it does not mean that. It means that what was said in the article was worded poorly, because it said We certainly are not even going to attempt that until The Avengers 2, instead of saying We certainly are not even going to attempt that until after the Avengers 2.

@dan1 Thats the fun part..remember in the Avengers comic, Ironman had the Infinity gauntlets and he was like he could wipe out all crime and make a perfect reality...well if Movieweb wasn't like this...it wouldnt be as entertaining and enjoyable

@themoviefanatic All your questions are answered in the article..You're like the type of person that orders a pepperoni pizza and ask, " is there pepperonni on this? I was just wondering because it says pepperoni pizza and i thought it should say pizza pepperoni" Do you have any degrees or diplomas, if you do how long did it take you?

This'll sound really uncharacteristic of me, but I'm really tired of the flame wars. I think from now on I'm just going to ignore em, and only engage in conversation if I feel if it's stimulating. Movieweb has become oversaturated with pointless squabbles...

@ghostman Yes it would. I know that now. I just didn't understand what was said before, because the word "after" wasn't used in that sentence in the article.

@mcleve02 Well, if it had been used in that sentence, then i would of understood what was said on there in the first place.

@themoviefanatic it's not needed. They used proper syntax. They did not need that word to make it understandable. That is basics of high school English clasees

  21. Sean

@mcleve02 It may have been worded correctly, but it was worded in a way, that i misunderstood because the word "After" was not used in that sentence, between the word "until" and the title "The Avengers 2".

@themoviefanatic man I honestly don't understand how... It is worded correctly... Plus people were telling you that is what it meant... That should have been the end of it rather than it dragging on into this blow up of frustration and fun

@themoviefanatic Wouldn't it be obvious to you to know that UNTIL means somewhat AFTER.

    8 months agoby @ghostmanFlag

  29. Ghostman

@themoviefanatic 'We certainly are not going to even attempt making another Hulk film until The Avengers 2'. The key word in this sentence is UNTIL. Do you understand that we will get a Hulk movie until The Avengers 2 comes out?! That means AFTER! I swear you do this on purpose just to piss us all off with your absolute stupidity.
