Battle: Los Angeles Poster #9

well district 10 has already been announced @joker667 and i wasnt a huge fan of district 9 although i appreciate it immensely for its originality, so i hope that battle la will be something completely different. And i know there are few original sci fi movies out there these days, but i think when one comes by it doesnt need to be compared to district 9. It needs to be praised for being itself. A movie is best when you can't quite compare it to anything else in my opinion. So i wasn't trying to insult you or anything so i apologize if i did offend you, im just personally hoping it will be it own, i don't want to see the next district 9, i want to see battle la

This is true, along with a few dozen other comedies.

Think more of dramatic movies. Has the viewing populous of dramatic film ever been treated to a benevolent, creature looking alien, aside from ET or District 9?

I'm sure they exist, but the main issue is the audience doesnt take a creature looking alien seriously.

@masta-chiefed Men in Black had benign aliens in it :P They weren't all evil-doers.

@dan1 I agree. This is no way comparable to District 9. Ya know, aside from a drama like E.T., I don't think Hollywood has ever really tried to show Aliens as benevolent creatures. B:LA looks cool, but I got this "Dud" feeling that it's not gonna do more than one week at number 1.

You know, while I loved District 9 as much or more then a lot of you, we shouldn't judge this movie under D9's shadow.

D9 featured aliens who weren't an immediate threat, they were seemingly much more benign in nature (stemming maybe from them being stuck on Earth and being sickly, giving them little choice to be any other way, for the most part). They didn't really turn violent and vicious until we humans treated them as, well, sub-human. A very interesting morality tale on how humans interact with one another and literal aliens. Very cool spin.

However, D9's world was considerably smaller in scale then Battle LA's seemingly is. In Battle, we've got a full on invasion by maliciously intent extraterrestrials, so that already is a huge difference. It's also going to focus on more then person's plight in all the chaos (though I'm sure since he has top billing, Eckhart will get the most screen time). It'll probably have the same visceral battles in it, from what we've seen from the trailers (although it looks closer to Black Hawk Down to me).

I dunno, I feel like I'm making a @narrator argument, where he likes to remind people that each Bats film is its own animal. I feel that is definitely the case here as well.
