Bloody Disgusting has learned that Danish director Nikolaj Arcel (Island of Lost Souls) will direct Deadman, a The Crow-esque adaptation for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Guillermo del Toro is set to produce the pic that follows a a circus tightrope walker who is murdered and returns as a ghost with the ability to inhabit the bodies if others in order to find his killer. We're being told this is based on the DC character Deadman that first appeared in Strange Adventures #205 (October 1967).

No production date has been set.

I haven't read these but with del toro producing, I hope to see Doug Jones as the lead.

It's a fun character. Good to see GDT involved in some way.

Brilliant! Check out any of Neal Adams' Deadman stories, especially the Batman cross-overs.

I only know him through a Batman/Deadman cross-over I read. The art depicted him as a very skinny (almost bony) dude/astral manifestation who possesses people...was quite nice. I'd like the movie to have lots of cameos that he possesses along the story...

Never read the books. Sounds pretty good though.
