Night at the Museum Is Tops in DVD Sales and Rentals!

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Fox Home Entertainment's Night at the Museum easily took the top positions "on Nielsen VideoScan's First Alert DVD sales chart for the week ending April 29" and Home Media Magazine's rental chart.

Selling 6 million copies the DVD "generated more than $100 million in consumer spending." It earned another $11.6 million in rentals.

Universal Home Video still cashed in with Smokin' Aces moving down to the No. 4 spot in sales.

Buena Vista Home Entertainment's Deja Vu was No. 2 on both the sales and rental charts, and The Queen (also from Buena Vista) came in No. 3 on both charts.

Blu-ray sales won the week with 71% of consumer dollars (to HD-DVD's 29%). A big part of Blu-ray's dominance was, between the two next generation formats, Night at the Museum "is exclusively on that" one.

Night at the Museum was released December 22nd, 2006 and stars Ben Stiller, Carla Gugino, Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs, Jake Cherry, Ricky Gervais, Robin Williams. The film is directed by Shawn Levy.
