Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian Tops the DVD Sales Charts

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian It was a hard fought battle in the films and a hard fought battle on the DVD shelves this past week as two blockbusters slugged it out for DVD supremacy. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian took the top spot on the DVD sales charts, for the week ending December 6, but not by much.

The sequel had to fend off a strong challenge from summer blockbuster Terminator Salvation, which finished in a close second place behind Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, selling about 90% as many copies as this week's winner. Both films finished in the 1-2 spots respectively on the DVD rental charts as well, but the futuristic film scored a victory in high-definition.

Terminator Salvation had an easy win on the Blu-ray sales charts in its opening week, with a whopping 42% of all sales coming in the BD format. Terminator Salvation outsold Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian on BD by a huge margin of three to one. Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian sold just 14% of its discs in the high-definition format.

Decent, but not as good as the first. Seemed forced and lacked the 'closeness' that came from the relationship between Stiller's character and his son and the new love interest in Gugino. Decent rental, but it'll have to hit the $5 bin before I add it to my collection... on the list, though.
